Walt Disney Studios' 2008 Release Schedule (Through Summer)

Some we've been talking about for months on MiceChat, others very little or not at all, below are the movies slated for release by the Walt Disney Studios through Summer 2008:

©Disney Enterprises, Inc. All rights reserved.

HANNAH MONTANA & MILEY CYRUS: BEST OF BOTH WORLDS CONCERT (February 1st)
Starring Miley (Ray) Cyrus with Special Guests the Jonas Brothers, Kenny Ortega and Billy Ray Cyrus
    Directed by Bruce Hendricks
    From Walt Disney Pictures
    Rated G

Hannah Montana fans everywhere will have a chance to see their favorite singer, songwriter and actress, Miley Cyrus, perform her sold-out concert tour on the big screen in HANNAH MONTANA & MILEY CYRUS: BEST OF BOTH WORLDS CONCERT. Shot during Cyrus’ 69-city tour and exhibited in state-of-the-art Disney Digital 3D™, the film will be coming to theaters for a special one week engagement on February 1, 2008.
New middle name or not, it's the same Miley and the same Hannah Montana. The concert flick may not sell out like the live tour, but theaters will be plenty full for this one-week 3D release.

STEP UP 2 THE STREETS (February 14th)
Starring Briana Evigan and Robert Hoffman
    Directed by Jon M. Chu
From Touchstone Pictures and Summit Entertainment
    Rated PG-13

STEP UP 2 THE STREETS is the follow-up to the smash hit “Step Up,” which ignited theaters in August 2006. When rebellious street dancer Andie (BRIANA EVIGAN) lands at the elite Maryland School of the Arts, she finds herself fighting to fit in while also trying to hold onto her old life. When she joins forces with the school’s hottest dancer Chase (ROBERT HOFFMAN) to form a crew of classmate outcasts to compete in Baltimore’s underground dance battle The Streets, she ultimately finds a way to live her dream while building a bridge between her two separate worlds.

    COLLEGE ROAD TRIP (March 7th)
Starring Martin Lawrence, Raven Symone and Donny Osmand
    Directed by Roger Kumble
    From Walt Disney Pictures
    Not Yet Rated

Choosing which college to attend can be the most exciting and thrilling time of a young woman’s life…unless your overprotective father isn’t quite ready to let you go. In the Disney family comedy, COLLEGE ROAD TRIP, Melanie (RAVEN-SYMONÉ) is eagerly looking forward to her first big step towards independence when she plans a “girls only” road trip to check out prospective universities. But when her overbearing police chief father (MARTIN LAWRENCE) insists on escorting her instead, she soon finds her dream trip has turned into a hilarious nightmare adventure full of comical misfortune and turmoil.
Forget Raven. It's all about the dream pairing of Martin Lawrence and Donny Osmond.

THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA: PRINCE CASPIAN (May 16th)
Starring Georgie Henley, Skandar Keynes, William Moseley, Anna Popplewell, Ben Barnes, Peter Dinklage, Pierfrancesco Favino and Sergio Castellitto
    Directed by Andrew Adamson
From Walt Disney Pictures and Walden Media
    Not Yet Rated

The characters of C.S. Lewis’ timeless fantasy come to life once again in this newest installment of the “Chronicles of Narnia” series, in which the Pevensie siblings are magically transported back from England to the world of Narnia, where a thrilling, perilous new adventure and an even greater test of their faith and courage awaits them.

One year after the incredible events of “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,” the Kings and Queens of Narnia find themselves back in that faraway wondrous realm, only to discover that more than 1300 years have passed in Narnian time. During their absence, the Golden Age of Narnia has become extinct, Narnia has been conquered by the Telmarines and is now under the control of the evil King Miraz, who rules the land without mercy.

The four children will soon meet an intriguing new character: Narnia’s rightful heir to the throne, the young Prince Caspian, who has been forced into hiding as his uncle Miraz plots to kill him in order to place his own newborn son on the throne.
In the first Pirate-less summer since 2005, will Prince Caspian pick up where Jack Sparrow left off and dominate the box office? Not likely. Indy 4 opens May 22nd.

    WALL•E (June 27th)
Starring the Voices of Fred Willard, Jeff Garlin, and Ben Burtt
    Directed by Andrew Stanton
    From Disney/Pixar
    Not Yet Rated

What if mankind had to leave Earth, and somebody forgot to turn the last robot off? WALL•E, a robot, spends every day doing what he was made for. But soon, he will discover what he was meant for. From Academy Award®-winning writer-director, Andrew Stanton (“Finding Nemo”), Disney/Pixar’s WALL•E is the story of one robot's comic adventures as he chases his dream across the galaxy.
After being underwhelmed by Cars and Ratatouille, I've had serious concerns about WALL•E. But its most recent trailer has piqued my interest, finally. With Stanton at the helm, Pixar just might be fun again.

©Swing Vote - the Movie Productions, LLC. All rights reserved.

    SWING VOTE (Summer)
Starring Kevin Costner, Paula Patton, Kelsey Grammer, Dennis Hopper, Nathan Lane, Stanley Tucci, Judge Reinhold, George Lopez, Willie Nelson, Mare Winningham, Richard Petty, and introducing Madeline Carroll
    Directed by Joshua Michael Stern
From Touchstone Pictures and Treehouse Films
    Not Yet Rated

SWING VOTE follows the story of Bud Johnson (Kevin Costner), an apathetic, beer-slinging, lovable loser, who is coasting through a life that has passed him by. The one bright spot is his precocious, over-achieving twelve year-old daughter Molly. She takes care of both of them, until one mischievous moment on Election Day, when she accidentally sets off a chain of events which culminates in the election coming down to one vote…her dad’s.
These days, Costner does silly better than serious. Match him with a colorful cast and Swing Vote shows promise.

The poll needs a none of the above option. All of the films listed are either "no interest at all" or "meh, I'll catch it on video... maybe" for me.

Wall-E looks great, but the others are a definite "miss" for me...

Of all the movies that were on the polls, for me it is "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian." It looks better and a lot more grander than "The Lion, Witch, and the Wardrobe." Wall-E is a second choice, since anything Pixar does is good (to me, that is).

i'm exited for Wall-E ,but what's up with Rattituille(sp) being underwhelming? Cars, I can understand but Rattitoille(sp) was a great movie. even if I can't spell it..

I'm looking forward to seeing how Prince Caspian turns out. Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe was a big disappointment.

Wall-E doesn't really excite me all that much. I'm still going though.
