LAST CALL for RSVP: Let's meet for lunch at the Tam O' Shanter

SEE MY 9/30/05 POSTING FOR THE LATEST UPDATE

The Tam O' Shanter Inn in Los Angeles opened in 1922. Tom Mix, Fatty Arbuckle, Mary Pickford, John Wayne and Walt Disney and members of his studio were regulars in the early days of the "Tam." In fact, the Disney people had lunch here so often, some referred to it as the studio commissary.

Several MiceChatters have expressed an interest in meeting for lunch at this historic eatery. I'm told there is some interesting Disney memorabilia displayed and... if asked nicely... the manager can tell some fun tall tales about Uncle Walt and his boys.

Tentatively, the date is set for lunchtime, Saturday, October 8, 2005. This could change due to personal schedules or the needs of the restaurant. BUT... I will make all the arrangements if I can know who will definately be there. The sooner the better. I would hate to wait too long and find out the place is booked solid... then we'd have to start all over again. I'm going to cut off "reservations" seven days from today: Sept. 6th, 5:00PM.

UPDATE-Sept. 12: The deadline has been extended. Please PM me if you want to go.

So... let's make it a date for lunch with Uncle Walt.

Please reply with a message letting me know how many will be in your party, if you are under 21 or do not drink alcohol (who knows... there might be a little bubbly Disney magic in the air!) or any other thoughts or concerns.

Put me down for a tentative 2 please.
Anything listed on the park maps as an attraction is fair game for inclusion in the Rally.
I cannot confirm nor deny the inclusion of any attraction in the Rally.

    I have to work.
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

    UPDATE:

Lunch With Walt : The Tam O' Shanter Inn
    2980 Los Feliz Boulevard
    Los Angeles, California 90039
    Saturday, October 8, 2005

I just spoke with the Tam O' Shanter to begin the planning of our luncheon and have some new information to pass along. I will also speak with their banquet manager tomorrow. The normal (and slightly expensive) menu is not offerered for Saturday lunch. They do offer what is called the "Ale & Sandwich Bar." Average price for sandwiches is $8-12. Actually, this may make the outing a little more attractive for those with a limited pocketbook. They recommend reservations a month in advance, so this works out well with my deadline. Please RSVP in the poll before it closes.

As of this moment, we have about 9 MiceChatters going. I'd like to get the number up to about 20. At that point, the restaurant might be more willing to accomodate us at a special table or in a special area or private room. Naturally, when I talk with the banquet manager tomorrow, I will ask if Walt had a favorite table.

Thanks for your interest. I'll keep you posted.

Hurray! I'll admit, I've never been to the Tam O' Shanter, though I've wanted to for a long time. I'm glad to hear that the Ale & Sandwich Bar is so good!

Who can give Crazylegs a ride?

We're up to about 12 now. The more the merrier!
