Who were you in high school?

Were you the jock? The band geek? How about one of the popular kids? A nerd? Who were you in high school?

I was one of the "invisibles". Nobody popular, not a jock at all, not a brainiac. I didn't party. I didn't belong to any afterschool clubs of programs. I was just there. My job was to go to school, do my work and go home.

I had my group of friends, don't get me wrong. And we always went to football games and did stuff together outside of school, we just really didn't care TO be popular, or be a jock, or whatever.

Those friends in high school, are for the most part still a part of my life though. That's one of the most important things I got from high school, some of the best friends a person could have.

Funny thing is, when I helped organize our 20th reunion a few years ago, I ended up being one of the popular ones. It was a cool feeling I must admit. Even funnier was that the popular kids in high school, were no longer the popular ones people wanted to hang out with at the reunion. Wacky!

Anyway, who were YOU in high school?

Re: Who were you in high school?

I was on the Varsity Swim Team and 'semi-popular' - there were many cliques...and I didn't belong to any 'said' clique - I didn't like cliques actually (still don't).....and made a point to be friends with everyone.

I was going to play football @ Anaheim High School- but my Uncle was going to be my coach in Freshman year....and when he wanted me to call him 'Sir' - I said "That's all brother - I'm out". I got through Hell Week......and then he lands this "Sir" thing on me and I was not going to have it. At the time, my Uncle was 26 and I was 14 - and we didn't get along all that well back then....... Things are different now - I'm about to turn 37, married and a father... and he's 49, and a grandfather of 9 - we've both grown up.

Sadly, I wish I'd actually played Football....oh well.

Same here. But we got along so well and we became a club unto ourselves.

In later years, I put together band reunions. We had the best of times seeing each other after many years. Our band director came too!

My life in high school was tremendous. And I owe it all to being in the band.

I was the person who frowned constantly, skipped as many classes as possible and RAN for the hills every time the bell rang. I ha-ted High School.

    Is that a club? I don't know.

I was an invisible. Never cared for school activities, never went to football games and never really cared to fit in and my friends were like that as well with the exception of my best friend, a cheerleader who kept trying to get me involved in school.
In Ohio high school, I was on the gymnastics team for 2 years, but we sucked, the girls were mean, rude, b****es and I hated it. But I still remained an Invisible and looking back, I still prefer it that way.
Press today is so concerned with cool vs. not cool that they're starting to forget good vs. bad. I'm not sure I'll ever be "cool", but I will always tirelessly strive to be "great". - Josh Groban

The "group" I ran with was interesting...kind of a collision between the drama class kids, the few campus goths, the band nerds, and the technical theater class....so I was a goth techie drama student. Heh.

For those on Micechat who actually personally know me, this might come as somewhat of a shock to you...

I was a total loner in high school. Didn't have many friends and just kept to myself. Your average, run of the mill, invisible man.

Re: Who were you in high school?

I was a wallflower...I was there, I did what I was supposed to do, and that was all. I never went to any school games. The only dance I attended was prom and I went stag!

My close friends were all from church and we went to all different high schools. I wasn't popular, I wasn't unpopular, I was....forgettable! I was acquaintances with the popular kids that were in my class and they generally thought that I was "sweet" but I didn't hang out with them outside. What they remember about me is probably that I was the one that they copied off of so that they could keep their gpas up.

    My best score ever!

I was well known, but not popular. Although, senior year I did get a lot of invites to the good parties.
