    Lightbulb Blue Sky Lounge?

Reading through these boards I can't help but notice that we have a great many "Armchair Imagineers" in our midsts. So I got to thinking that it might be fun for us to have a lounge just for aspiring Imagineers and others who would like to share ideas on what attractions and improvements they would like to see at the Disney parks.

We could also share info and advice on actually landing a job at WDI.

We could call the lounge "Blue Sky" after the initial creative process used at WDI when nothing is off the table and "anything is possible".

So what do you think? Good idea? Bad idea? Don't know, don't care?

My appologies if this has been suggested before.

Sounds cool to me. We all have ideas on how to improve current attractions and add new ones, it could be fun to have a dedicated area. It could be broken up into the 5 park resorts just to add some order to it instead of having threads all willy nilly. That way all the armchair imagineering that happens in the current resort areas will have their own home.

I was looking for something like that here, but was wondering if there was such a Lounge for that?

I think it should be a place where ideas for rides and attractions of any type could be discussed.

I also think this is a great idea. For the serious future imagineers, I would love to see some sketches, stories, set designs, floor plans, etc. This would also be a great place to help eachother in this already competitive industry.

Yes, this was my thinking exactly. Not to mention story boards and concept art. I would love to see the stuff that people come up with and bounce ideas back and forth. Also, there are Disney folks that look at this site and its never a bad idea to get your stuff out there where it can be seen (not to get anybody's hopes up, but you never know...).

Oh, by the way, if you don't have a scanner or digital cam, there is always Kinkos, OfficeMax, Staples, etc. Any of them can scan your work (if its not too big) and put in on a disk for you for a nominal fee. Since the whole world is digital now, a digital version of your portfolio is a really good thing to have.

    Re: Blue Sky Lounge?

Well, I guess I'll start things off.
Here is some concept art for a proposed "Sword and Sorcery" themed park. Not exactly Disney, but fun to do. The project never went anywhere so the plans where never finished. Keep in mind that this stuff was done back in the '80s long before Harry Potter and the LOTR movies. The concept was simple: Basicly a permanant Rennaisance fair with high fantasy themed attractions.

This small park would be laid out around a central lake, The Sea of Peril (shades of Monty Python, no?), with Wizard's Castle as its centerpiece.

Hmmm. Now where did that castle as centerpiece idea come from?

Anyway, many cool attractions where planned, including a flume type ride through an enchanted forest, complete with AA faeries, knomes and what not; A goblin themed maze, with sections that wound in and out of caves ala Moria in LOTR; A Dark Tower atttraction, featuring spooky AA and topped off with a long lift and sudden drop in the dark (long before Tower of Terror btw); Two coasters were also planned, one inside Wizard's Castle itself...

...and the other inside of Dragon Mountain, a spooky volcano with (you guessed it) a giant AA dragon at the end that spurts fire at you as you wizz passed.
Oh, it would have been fun, but alas, no funding.
Ok. Who wants to share next?
