Wow - it's a year!

One year ago today, October 11, 2007, my CANCER was pronounced IN REMISSION by my Doctor @ City of Hope in Duarte, CA.

I remember being on 'pins and needles' all morning.....because in late July, after chemotherapy had ended my Doctor said that I was in fact NOT in remission......and that she and the 'board' felt they should put me in for 6 weeks of radiation therapy. The "board" is something that a situation is brought to and they all deliberate over what should be the next step - and I guess without a doubt, they said "RADIATION".....

After almost 7 months of emotionally and physically taxing chemotherapy, to learn that I was NOT in remission was very difficult......I almost felt as though my heart sunk when I heard the 'not so good news'...........so on to 6 weeks of daily radiation........

I remember being so scared on 10/11/07........because the next step, if I wasn't in remission, was to house me in the hospital for a month, and give me very strong chemotherapy......and I wouldn't be able to have visitors, etc.....as well, a stem cell transplant. That freaked me out.......but I wasn't going to let it get me down....

Anyway, my wife and son and I sat in the exam room........waiting for Doctor Krishnan (my Doc). She came in.......said hello, and such.......and she said that I was in fact in remission

HALLELUJAH!

I can't tell you the weight that was lifted off of my shoulders that early afternoon. We scheduled a few follow up appointments and we were off on our way.

We called every single family member we could think of as we made our way to Mimi's Cafe on Harbor Blve (across from Disneyland). From there, we went to Disneyland to celebrate remission....

Anyway......again, thank you to all of you who have remembered my day.
