h'omg not good. I was at the store today and they didn't have any frosted animal cookies. HALP!

Yeah, I jumped on the bandwagon, too, and purchased a sack of the orange and white circus animal cookies tonight at Taget.

Odd that they would just close up , without raising prices? Wonder if they might be bought out??????? Would that be a possibility. Seems like there would be some opportunities, rather than shutting the door, and locking up the facilities.

Suposedly they were bankrupt claiming the rising cost of raw materials and fuel was the reason for them closing up shop.

Yeah, I heard that too, but when that happens, they would just need to raise their price to reflect that. Seems awful drastic, unless their sales were decreasing.

Plus they would still have all the equipment, just makes more sense to see if some other company could make it profitable - instead of coming to a dead stop. Wonder if they considered a buy out, or reorganization bankruptcy, instead.

It's too bad they don't have any here. I'd buy up a ton and save them. I miss those just as much as I miss See's candy.

I went shopping in Long Beach today and found them at the three stores I went to

1. Buy Low had lots plus other kinds of Mother's Cookies besides the circus animals. Not on sale, they were $3.69 a bag. I bought one bag of circus animals and one container of cream filled tea cookies.

2. Superior had some circus animals and not as many of the other varieties. Their circus animals were on sale for $1.79 (I should have waited) but the other varieties were not on sale. Bought another bag of circus animals and one of frosted oatmeal.

3. Food 4 Less had plenty and the circus animals and some of the others were on sale 2/$4.00. The varieties not on sale were $3.68 or $3.98.

I agree that this sudden closing is very strange.

this is a sad day. what a disappointing to end to a great company. they've been around since 1914!

i was home alone with my little brother today when i found out, and he and i WALKED all the way to my grocery store today (i'm not allowed to drive temporarily) just to buy 5 bags of cookies.

I bought some angel shortbread cookies the other day and when I ate them they felt greasy and tasted slimey, kind of like eating crisco with chocolate chips. Those are not the cookies I remember.
I am on a hunt for Taffy's though as they are not sold where I normally shop. I saw some new one's too like Coconut fudge. I hope they still have cookies left on Tuesday.

I didn't make it to the store today. Hope there are still some out there tomorrow. Our local Wally World didn't have any of the Circus Animals, but had some other kinds. If I can't find them at Staters I'll try Food 4 Less!

I am already down two bags. This after my boys were told the news said 'whatever' but who opened them and keep munching on them, yep those two piglets. Timmy has hidden the other 3 bags, unfortunately he has yet to tell me where.
