Lombardi Ranch - Santa Clarita, CA (an O'nut TR)

Today was my annual trek out to Lombardi Ranch with my "proxy family". It's a great place for hunting pumpkins, and a fantastic place to bring your kids for a fun day of autumnal activities. There's all sorts of food and drink. There's rides. There's pumpkin carving contests. There's a corn maze. And, there's animals!

Lombardi Ranch

If your intersted in some music, there's a little bandstand.

There's a "train" ride through a huge sunflower patch.

Or how about a "stagecoach" ride through the cornfield?

Don't you feel like Laura Ingalls might be somewhere close by, being chased by Nellie Oleson?

Check out the old firetruck.

Or the paddy wagon.

The photo ops are endless!

Do your kids have too much pent up energy? Then have them climb up and down and up and down the hay pyramid.

Lets glance at the garden. Okra, beets, pinto beans. Oh, and duct tape! I always wondered how they grew duct tape.

Lets have a looksey at the punkins shall we?

Look close and you can see the white cover on the wagon ride making it's way through the corn field.

This is where the white pumpkins are relegated to. Who knew there was such discrimination amongst the gourds.

Pumpkincide.

Linus would be so excited to be here.

And, there you have it. I can't recommend this place enough. So if you're hankerin' for some good ole countrytime autumnal fun, head on out to Santa Clarita and spend a couple hours at Lombardis!

What a great trip! Looks like so much fun. But, why no picture of your pumpkin?

I actually go to buy gourds for my cornucopia. I know, wacky. No pumpkins for me. I'm never home to carve them!

Pretty pumpkins but when you say 'your alterna family' since there are no pictures of them I guess I am left to assume that you just pick out a new family every year! Great report and pictures.

BTW where is the gnome in the pictures?

Wow! That looks like such a good time! Did you partake in any of the rides? That cornfield one and the train look like fun.

Actually Pratt, it's proxy family And one of my proxy sisters and her hubby are there, in the police photo.

And yes Pengy, they did have fire damage last year. Not a trace of any damage to be seen, which made me happy.

Yep that was me. The Lombardi family has had a very hard year of rebuilding, in fact is was Sunday 10/21 (so basically one year ago exactly) that the fires raged through Lombardi ranch. They rebuilt everything that burned down with the exception of of a guest house which the family felt was just not replaceable. It was actually an opportunity to move things around and make a better flow for the fall festivities.

Thanks ONut for the photos, although I live less than five minutes from tehre we haven't been out there in about a month, and they were still in set up mode then. We are going next week to get our pumpkins, I can't wait to see everything fresh and new.

Anyone remotely close to Santa Clarita shoudl really consider a trip out to Lombardi, its a wonderful family place with lots of fall cheer.
