Re: 10 most disappointed treats to get on Halloween

Stupid list. Pennies are the worst, and the person giving them think they are being so generous.

Here's another one: People that put loose candy or popcorn in a zip lock. Damn parents would always toss those things thinking Pedo McFeedo was putting poison in the bags.

I always traded away the necco wafers and juju's. My Holy Grail, full sized candy bars. Only one house gave those out in my hood and you had to work for it. House at the bottom of the hill.
Just countin' the days til the next visit!

Come on. Candy Corn is a tradition, Neccos and Smarties are nice once in a while, and I see nothing wrong at all with Dum Dums, Laffy Taffy, Tootsie Rolls, or Fun-Sized stuff. I really don't understand the fun-sized hatred. I'd rather see kids get those than full size candy bars at halloween.

Our next door neighbor doesn't like Halloween (I believe religous reasons, but it doesn't matter) so they leave a bowl of breath mints (the red and white after dinner mints) with a sign that says something to the effect of, "Take one of these mints to cleanse yourself of this horrible holiday."

I think we should do trick or treat at Club 33 and see if they give us the after dinner chocolates.

Hah, awesome....is it bad this list is giving me ideas? I can just imagine handing out handfuls of uncooked rice...

Why not give the proper gift for Halloween, replica small shrunken heads! Parents would love that one heh....

Re: 10 most disappointed treats to get on Halloween

The only thing I absolutely despised getting in my trick-or-treat bag was: Generic No Brand candy. They never tasted right and I felt "had".

There was one house in one of the neighborhoods I grew up in that gave out full size candy bars. It was a legend and kids were afraid to reveal its location for fear of them stopping the practice (too many kids stopping by = too much $$$). They were on a forgotten cul-de-sac, where most houses always kept their lights off, in the back of the neighborhood, so a lot of people didn't make it down that way.

In my parents' current neighborhood there's a house that is infamous to all the kids in the area, let alone the neighborhood. It is referenced as the Taj Mahal because they give out KING size (not full size) candy bars and they never seem to run out. As a result the neighborhood always gets bombarded with kids from all across the county - most of which are teenagers who barely make an effort to put on regular clothes, let alone a costume.

This'll be my first Halloween in our new neighborhood. I bought a box of full size candy bars ($12 for 25 bars - not bad!) and two bags of fun sized candy. The bars of full size are going into the bottom of the bowl with all the fun sized on top. All the cute kids and the older kids/teens who actually made a great effort with their costume will get the full size (I'll reach in and pull it from the bottom). Everyone else will get fun size.

    I wanna be a legend.
"But every night, when it gets dark
    and the stars come out,
I'll look up on her behalf.
I'll look up in the sky and think of you."

As a kid I just figured that I was getting free candy and I was stoked!!

I lived in a moderate neighborhood but we were very close to a wealthy neighborhood so we all went to the rich people to trick or treat. I remember that this one house would hand out packs of Bubblilicious!!

    My best score ever!

I also don't care for candy corn or raisins they are not my favs and Dots. That would be a disappointment for me.

I remember getting apples as a kid in my treat bag. Ughh!
I used to candy trade with my friends.

Re: 10 most disappointed treats to get on Halloween

The absolute worst thing ever received from trick or treating came to us last Halloween. Our neighbor was starting a home day care and handed out promotional flyers! That's it! No candy attached, just a flyer! My kids were like, huh?

PS We always have given out full sized candy bars. Everyone knows that calories consumed from Halloween candy don't count.
