Thumbs down 10 most disappointed treats to get on Halloween

    Here's the article:

The 10 Most Disappointing Treats for Trick-or-Treaters - Ed Levine Eats on Yahoo! Food

I dunno who this person is that came up with this list, but I wholeheartedly DISagree on a number of them. Here's the list of what not to give on Halloween, according to this yutz.

    Toothbrushes
    Raisins
    Candy Corn
    Smarties and Necco Wafers
    Dum Dum Lollipops
    Apples
    Tootsie Rolls
    Miscellaneous, Wrapped Hard Candies
    Laffy Taffy
    Anything Fun-Sized

OK, to me, nothing SAYS Halloween like Neccos or Smarties, Dum Dums, Tootsie Rolls, Laffy Taffy or fun sized candy bars. In fact the only time I ever GOT Dum Dums, Necco Wafers or Laffy Taffy (banana - mmmm) was on Halloween. Of course he doesn't tell us what we SHOULD give out.

I mean should we be handing out giant sized Hershey Bars? Not many people can afford to do that. Or Godiva Chocolates? I mean come on, what kid that's trick or treat aged complains about the candy they get on Halloween? Even if they do, you know they'll eat it anyway!

Laffy Taffy? Dum Dums? Tootsie Rolls? Necco Wafers? Smarties? Funsized chocolates? Are bad?! That's just lame. I'm with you Onut, Dumdums scream Halloween, as do smarties and fun sized candies. Good trading material too

Since I am giving out dum-dums, smarties and fun sized candy bars hopefully we will get passed over and then I can save them all for a MC meet.

Unless of course you all would be disappointed.

Ed Levine is not very smart.

I was under the impression that "fun sized" candy bars were pretty much the Halloween standard. What exactly does he think should be given out instead? Full sized bars? Seriously? What an idiot. I buy an assortment of fun sized bars for my little candy beggers. I get so few that I give them out by the handful, and I only pick the ones that I like so I can enjoy the leftovers.

I'm with you Onut. Everything on that list, with the exception of toothbrushes is all standard for Halloween. What is Halloween without rootbeer dum dums, candy corn and fun sized candy bars??

Plus, buy a bag of Halloween candy and it's all fun-sized unless you want to pay through the nose and buy full-sized.

And with everyone saying that kids today are overweight, having everyone give out full-sized candy bars won't help, so that's what fun-sized is for; all the yumminess with less guilt
Press today is so concerned with cool vs. not cool that they're starting to forget good vs. bad. I'm not sure I'll ever be "cool", but I will always tirelessly strive to be "great". - Josh Groban

    The Lilliput Bibles and dictionaries?

Fun sized is right sized! You get to sneak it with you to school.

A few years ago (2?) I got the mini granola bars because as a preschool teacher/director I couldn't give out candy when I told my kids no candy at school. Felt like a conflict of interest. I then went to a Halloween party because my roommates were going to stay at home and give out the bars. I get home and none of the granola bars are touched, but someone went out and bought real candy. I walked up to my roommate's room and was like "real candy?!" He looked at me and was like "dude we had to get real candy because someone had to get granola bars. We didn't want the house to get egged." That's my favorite story at attempting to be good on Halloween.

I always hated those wax teeth...the ones that were also supposed to be "gum." As well as the wax bottles filled with mystery liquid.

How funny when I read this article online a few minutes ago I thought the guy was a total putz. I mean come on saying no one likes candy corn, please it is a huge hit at my house!

I think we should make our own list of what NOT to give out on Halloween, just add to the list your recommendations:

    1. A penny.
