Wish I hadn't looked at this. This just scares me. When was the last time retail shopping took such a hit? The Depression?

I know the Disney Store in the mall in Palm Desert was closed down and gone the last time I was down there. And is Linen's N Things on that list? (Didn't see them) I read that they were going out of business too.

A few will probably be able to restructure and reopen later once the economy picks up again. But considering that it could be some time before we get our economy totally back on its feet again, who knows how many will be able to keep a "skeleton" crew of stores open until they can expand again, and how many will actually disappear.

This looks scary ... but this isn't all news from this week. Many of these closures were announced over the past several months.
One day your life will flash before your eyes. Make sure it's worth watching.

I don't believe Linen's N Things is on the list, but the local Linen's N Things store down the street from me has their clearance signs up. I really liked that store too....drats.

Levitz seems like its been going out of business for years, just like every other furniture store around here, they come and go with the breeze. Though Levtiz finally seems to be closing doors after having the going out of business sales for what seemed like years.

Not sure what you mean by this?!?!?!?!?!?!

The Children's Place owned over 300 stores. And In the process of selling them back to Disney, TCP filed for bankrupty and closed 100 plus stores.

Are you saying ANOTHER 100 stores may close, in addition to 100 that already closed?

That is quite some list when you see it all lined up like that. A lot of people are going to be out of work and that is really sad.

    Re: Even More Stores Closing!

I'm still unsure of all of this - I just did a search for this: Pep Boys - 33 stores
And the results all days they closed 33 stores - in 2003!

    And this:
Pacific Sunwear will close its 154 Demo stores after a review of strategic
alternatives for the urban-apparel brand. Seventy-four underperforming Demo
    stores closed last May.
    Came from this article:
Pacific Sunwear to Close Demo Stores - International Business Times -
Which came out in Jan 2008 - so "last May" was in 2007.

So... while some are probably true, it seems like quite a lot is old news!!!!
