Question What camera's do you use?

Hey All,
This is a fairly simple question. I see some great pictures posted here by AP's, summer vacationers, and everyone and I am curious what sort of camera you use? What settings you prefer, that sort of thing. I currently have a Exlim 7.2 mega pixels, and I like it because it's small and compact and I will most likely keep using it, but I am really interested in getting a second "better" camera. Any suggestions?? Anything would be really helpful! Even tips for how to use this one better. Thanks everyone!

Re: What camera's do you use?

I looked into this one...does the Canon Rebel have a flash besides the one you can buy and attach? It looks like it might, but I'm not sure.

Yeah, it does. It's a pop-up flash with the option to keep it off if you so choose.

Re: What camera's do you use?

I am sort of leaning towards the Canon just because it has more megapixels than the Nikon, but I'm still not sure.
I am loving all the feed back. This is really helping me out!

Re: What camera's do you use?

I have a Canon Powershot A530 point and shoot and a Nikon D40 with two lenses, a 18-55mm and a 55-200mm, both Nikkor. I absolutely love my Nikon so far, but its also my first DSLR, so I don't have much experience with others.

Re: What camera's do you use?

I have a Nikon Coolpix. It's a great camera, I love it - it could use a better zoom though but the picture quality is nice!

Re: What camera's do you use?

I hear ya about the financial situation. I really want one of these camera's but I see how much they are and it might be a while before I am the owner of one.
Are there certain things someone should look for when getting a camera or did everyone just know what they wanted?

I really like it, and since I got the Lightsphere - I like it even more.
The EF 50mm f1.4 is very nice. I test drove my friends, and liked it. It's just a bit too expensive to add to my collection right now though...

It does, as Missviolet said.

There is much debate about megapixels, and IMHO unless you are making big prints or cropping a lot, 8 to 12 is more than enough. I have some beautiful 13x19 inch prints. Also - Nikon would not be a bad choice either. Depending on which model as one (don't remember which) of the models my friend purchased wouldn't support but a few of the Nikon lenses. He traded it in and upgraded. He was glad to spend a few hundred more...

Interesting story...

My old DSLR had the unmitigated audacity to stop working after it was dropped in the Pioneer Mercantile (AKA Pocahontas Shop) in September 2006. Since I was going on a Caribbean cruise the end of October, I needed to do something. I agonized over the cost of repair (nearly $300) vs. buying new. Finally my dear wife told me to stop moping around and get a new camera. I had criteria, and the only thing the XTI didn't do that I would have preferred, was use the LCD as a viewfinder. It was hardly a deal breaker as I grew up using SLR's. It was an easy decision, as the Nikon I had in mind was at the time over $300 more than the sale price on the Cannon. I walked in and bought it the first day of the sale which was 4 days before the cruise... I have not looked back, and have loved it so much I started investing in lenses and other accessories.
