Re: What did Santa bring you?

It was a lean Christmas this year.......but both my folks and my in-laws really 'came through' for Grant, my 2 year old son. My wife and I got Grant a tricycle which he loves.

Santa brought me 'Cozy/Rainy Weather'. I just loved getting all bundled up and feeling cozy on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day......really made it nice

Re: What did Santa bring you?

Christmas is a two-day affair for us, with presents and such on Christmas eve. It was a Disney Christmas in a sense, not just for me but others too. The gift-giving was mostly focused on the five kiddos, naturally, and they got a ginormous amount of presents I might add. Gift-giving amongst the big folk was mostly from spouses and and those who live near each other and such. Being a solo-flyer and not nearby or in frequent contact with any of the others, I was mostly a spectator. But we did do a name-draw with a decent price range.

I gave a gift card, wrapped and then placed in a larger box and wrapped again. I assumed I would get a gift card. Likely from Best Buy--I've gotten many in the past and can use these, but only in the long run. It's no secret among my family I'm a Disney fan and go to Disneyland regularly; a Disney gift card would be not at all surprising. From the name-draw I got--big surprise--a Disney gift card.

From the name-draw my brother got cash--in one of the most brilliant ways I've ever seen. It was a decorated box with a slot on top, and inside was a huge string of two-dollar bills connected end-to-end with a tab on one end outside the slot, so you keep pulling them out. This box had in turn been wrapped up in a larger box as a present in the usual way.

Background music was provided by me--a CD I made, and was very well-liked by everyone, even leading to a few spontaneous brief sing-alongs. We just kept playing the same CD repeatedly in a loop the whole evening. What was it? What else but the Main Street USA Christmas loop! And nobody seemed the wiser -- I didn't say what it really was, not wanting to spoil it; just that it was a playlist of vintage 60s-era instrumentals I learned about online.

Add to this a bunch of awesome food and all that, and it was a good time.

A Sony mini component system. My old Kenwood I had in college crapped out when there was an electrical surge. I was thinking of buying one earlier this year but then I became laid-off from work. So, it wa apleasant surprise.
Also got some much needed money from my parents. I hope I can finally find work in the new year so that I can finally pay them back a little for helping me get through college and university. I think I'll eventually send them on a trip to Mexico or Disneyland.
I forgot to mention that I also got a Global Economic Crisis Survival Kit:

Re: What did Santa bring you?

My family decided to skip the shopping this year and go out and have some fun!

My parents got my sisters and I $150 cash, bathrobes, slippers and pajamas.

Then on Christmas Day, we all went to Disneyland and had our Christmas dinner at Steakhouse 55!

It was fabulous! One of the best Christmases i've ever had!

Here's my one question:
Did everyone send out thank you cards for their gifts? It takes 2 minutes to write and is really appreciated.

I finished all of my thank you cards yesterday. I agree, they are simple and quick to write, people really do seem to appreciate the fact that someone takes their time to write a note expressing how much they enjoyed the gift.
