Disco Duck... Donald???

OK, I'd guess that most of the MiceChatters here were probably not even BORN then, but we were recently listening to the XM 70's channel (the kids playing a joke on us "old" parents) and the original "Disco Duck" song came on.

Yeah, it's probably been 30 years since I heard it, but I do remember it!

Anyway, the kids started cracking up over it (rightfully so, BTW) and then they started making the comment that the voice of the duck was Donald Duck!

It sure sounds like Donald!

Does anyone here remember that "historical" song, and if so, do you think it is (or is it a parody of) Donald?

I've heard it a couple times, and I agree, it does sound like Donald. I thought maybe that's even who the song was about.

I believe ti was done by a local disc jockey named Rick Dees who became very famous and as far as he has said, it was just a duck impression he did. I don't think he could have said outright that it was Donald for fear of reprisal by Disney for using a copyrighted character name. But it was a funny song.

Yeah, the song info that came up on my XM screen just had it listed as "Disco Duck" by Rick Dees Top Choices.

Rick Dees must have peaked years ago. I haven't heard of him in ages.

But to his credit, I haven't been looking for him either...

He was the #1 disc jockey in the entire LA area for a long time but something happened with a stunt the station and he pulled that kind of backfired on them and he was let go. He hasn't been around here in a long time.

Rick Dees is still on the radio on Movin' 93.9 they play many 70's and 80's songs. This happen back in 2006.
