MiceChat 4 Year Anniversary - LIVE The MiceChat Story:
4 Years ago, I found a little fairy sprite trapped in a tree. She pleaded for me to set her free, and I did. As she flew off, she showered me in twinkling dust and told me that I should make a wish before the last sparkle faded away. I wished with all my heart for a way to unite all of my friends and create a magic place where we could be together whenever we wanted, wherever we were in the world. And the wish came true.
Monorail Man, saw that vision too. He created a splendid home on the web for friends old and new. We struggled to create a place without too many rules but with just enough to keep the trolls, orcs, and evil sorcerers away. And we began to recruit the most amazing team of moderators, content writers, bloggers, and staff. A countless number of hours of work have gone into this site by dozens of volunteers. Their hard work is the bedrock upon which this community is built.
But it is the members themselves who have made MiceChat the largest Disneyland Discussion board and one of the largest and fastest growing forum sites in the world. Today, nearly 28,000 of you call MiceChat Home. You have made close to 3 and a half MILLION posts in the past 4 years. It is astounding that so much can happen in such a short period of time.
We began as a tiny niche of people crazy about Disney and Theme Parks. But MiceChat has grown far beyond a Theme Park community. Today, nearly half of our posts occur in the Lounges, Entertainment and Sports, and MiceChat gold sections. You have become a community unto yourselves - a virtual microcosm of society in our own little pocket of the Internet.
And 4 years has been more than enough time for real life to happen on this virtual world. MiceChatters have met, fallen in love, gotten married, had babies. Thousands of you have made your closest personal friends on this site. You have formed support groups, clubs, shared interests, and helped each other in times of crisis. And this year, for the first time, we have joined as a group to morn the passing of some dear friends. We may chat in a virtual world, but we have formed very real bonds which will last a lifetime.
It is only fitting that we take some time to celebrate our community, our friendship, and our 4 years of MiceChatting!
