I found a comparable restaurant to In-N-Out in Florida!

I had lunch at a local burger place that reminded me so much of In-N-Out and dare I say it might have been better that In-N-Out? The place was called "Five Guys Burgers" in Ft Lauderdale, but they have other locations as well. The burgers were made fresh with no preservatives and you can choose your toppings. Also, the fries were made from fresh potatoes.

The place was also decorated somewhat somewhat similarly. I should have taken pictures to share with you all, but didn't ... sorry.

You just HAD to post that, huh? I have been wanting a cheeseburger all day....but, my favorite place is closed on Sundays. Phooey.

Thanks for telling me about this place. If I ever make it down to my aunt's house in Ft. Lauderdale again, I'll check it out.

I think there's one in NYC that I was told was a great burger place.
I hate In and Out though LOL

Re: I found a comparable restaurant to In-N-Out in Florida!

One of my friends in Orange County recommended this place as his favorite burger joint ever. I didn't think anything of it until they opened one last week here in Colorado Springs! Now this thread? Hmmm, sounds good.

peace,
Roo

Re: I found a comparable restaurant to In-N-Out in Florida!

I got 2 Five Guys within a 15 mile radius of me. One is by the Clearwater airport & the other is in Pinellas Park. They just opened a 2nd Five Guys in Lakeland. They're very popular in the MD/DC area.

I agree the burgers are good. It's probably my favorite burger joint around here now (Fatburger is a close 2nd). My favorite used to be a local deli/grill around the corner from where I live called Maxi's. They had the BEST burgers in town. But all of a sudden it closed and it's a pizza place now.

But yeah, Five Guys is good. And I love the fries. They're fresh cut potatoes (never frozen). I've seen workers come out and grab a sack of potatoes from the pile out front when they need more cut. And I love the free peanuts. Last time I went there for a burger to go, they gave me an extra bag to take as many handfuls of peanuts I wanted. The staff at the ones here are always super friendly.

Here's Five Guy's site: Home Page | Five Guys Burgers and Fries

Menu does look similar, although they don't serve shakes (like In-n-Out),
HOWEVER it does say they serve peanuts in the shell, so they do want to have a little bit of their own identity.

They do have an on-line shop, too, but it's just a basic red shirt.

No locations in Arizona or Nevada. Their nearest location to DL is in Cerritos and Carson: Store Locator | Five Guys Burgers and Fries

We had a Five Guys open up over here in central Texas and I must admit, I love the place. The burgers taste good and the fries are to die for.

The Orange County (CA) Register's fast food blogger posted a review of Five Guys here.

The MiceChat Story:
4 Years ago, I found a little fairy sprite trapped in a tree. She pleaded for me to set her free, and I did. As she flew off, she showered me in twinkling dust and told me that I should make a wish before the last sparkle faded away. I wished with all my heart for a way to unite all of my friends and create a magic place where we could be together whenever we wanted, wherever we were in the world. And the wish came true.

I've heard good things about this place from friends, and I'm looking forward to one that is opening soon about 5 minutes from my house.

There is one 2 blocks away from my jon in NYC. I have passed them before but never went in. I am going to have to give it a try. I never had In N Out so I won't be able to compare.

We have the 5 Guys now here in Orlando. I really like the restaurant, but In and Out has the best prices (and the best burgers, IMHO).

Almost looks like the outside of Steak N Shake which is in the midwest. I LOVE their burgers, fries & shakes! http://steaknshake.com/default-home.asp
