Has anyone ever explained "gay" to their kids?

I was just watching an episode of the 80's sit-com "The Charmings" ~
A Story about Snow White, Prince Charming, their two young sons,
a dwarf, the Evil Queen - Lillian White, and the Magic mirror All
falling asleep for 1,000 years and waking up in the 1980's USA.

Anyway, Snow is explaining to her husband, Prince Charming, that
her boss is gay. Snow whispers something in the Prince's ear, and
he say's "Oh, like Tweedle-dum and Tweedle-dee!"

Thanks Morrigoon, interesting article, I think I did the right thing with the Wolfette, plus she is exposed to the complex individual personalities of people with different flavors on a constant basis. Don't think there is any prejudice growing her little mind, at least I hope not!

We never really had to "explain" gay to my stepkids. They were brought up with gay men around them. My hubby's ex-wife's best friend was a gay man. My cousin is a gay man, and a lot of hubby's co-workers are gay men. My kids have always grown up just super accepting of all types of lifestyles, which I love. They are THE coolest adults now! Without judgement.

I don't have kids to explaine it to, but I have had some people at school ask me about it.

my little sister (8yo) saw me and my ex bf hold hands and asked my mom if my friend and i were in love. my mom said 'yeah i guess so, but why don't you ask them yourself?'. she never did but after that she always referred to my boyfriend as 'your boyfriend'. no one in our family has ever made an issue of people being gay so i don't think she even thought twice about it.
