Backpacking through Oz

G'day everyone! I've spent the last month trekking round Australia and thought it might be a good idea to post some of the specky photos that I've taken so far. Aus is sweet as, with plenty of good lookin' sheilas and bottle shops on every corner offering as much goon as one can take. The yobbos can be a bit agro, but its no big drama as long as you keep to yourself and aren't too unco. Waiting for your billy to boil while dancing with Matilda by a billabong is also an enjoyable experience.

Outside the Fremantle Markets in Perth, Western Australia

"Natural Bridge" in Southwest Australia, near the town of Albany.

"The Pinnacles", north of Perth. These are rock formations that are often hilariously shaped:

Fremantle Prison; never had indoor plumbing but still remained open until 1991.

From Western Australia I flew over to Sydney:

I abuse the panoramic function on my camera.

Self explanatory. I was on the ferry to Manly.

The beautiful Bondi Beach on a disgusting day. We just went to say that we'd been.

Petting an adorable wallaby

They're so soft

The Blue Mountains west of Sydney. Its better when its sunny because the light refracts off the oil that the eucalyptus trees give off and it creates a blue-ish tinge throughout the valley. There's also the steepest train in the world, but my camera died before I could take a picture of it, it goes down into the valley at 52 degrees.

Anyway, thats all for now, I have heaps more photos but have yet to upload them. Currently in Byron Bay (after spending the night in the interesting hippie town of Nimbin) and am heading up to Brisbane tonight. Watch this space .

Great pictures.

I've actually been to that exact Wildlife park. Our bus stopped there on the way to the Blue Mountains.

Koalas aren't nearly as cuddly as I expected.

We must've done the exact same tour. Was a boomerang demonstration involved? You're right about the koalas though, they had very strict rules about not touching their heads or anything to keep them from scratching you, biting you, or peeing on you.

Whoo Hoo! What a fantastic opportunity for you! I'm glad you were able to spend some time "exploring" the world before you have to settle down with college life!

Re: Backpacking through Oz

More pictures

Beachin' it up in Byron Bay

My Australian persona: Bruce the Kangaroo Wrangler

Business hours in the hippe town of Nimbin

Feeding an elephant at Australia Zoo. It was kind of sad there, with no Steve Irwin

ZOMG! Kangaroo!

Attempting to put aviators on a kangaroo... we did it in a hilarious video

Its REALLY hard not to try to steal one..

Rice..bubble squares? Huh?

Noosa River (the River of Mirrors) You can see why its called that

Bogan: Our new favourite word

HERE is where you get very jealous!

Lake McKenzie on Fraser Island, the largest sand island in the world. The definition of perfection.

The best sand I've ever felt in my life, the most amazing fresh clear water. Just unreal.

Favourite place on the trip so far, definitely

Our lovely 4x4 that we took to Fraser on the tour. You can only drive on the island with a 4x4, and honestly, its the closest thing to Indy at Disneyland that I've ever experienced in my life. Just zooming down these really bumpy sand roads and flying around corners, getting thrown all over the place. Plus it had its fair share of snakes...

Moheno Shipwreck on the beach

The whole Fraser group! Amazing group of people, had an absolute blast

The coast

On the barge back to the mainland

Thats all for now! More to come with a sailing trip around the Whitsunday Islands. Remember that 'Greatest Job in the World' dealio that the Queensland government had going on? Well, its one of the islands that make up the area, so we're pretty pumped, it looks very cool. The humidity is awful though...
