Does anyone know of some upbeat, joyful and happy piano music?

Hi all. I'm looking for some upbeat, joyful, and cheerful PIANO music. I don't really know of any songs so I was hoping you can help me out. Thanks!

The theme from the movie "The Sting". One of the best piano songs ever.

Otherwise known as "The Entertainer".

Rod Miller, the legendary Coke Corner ragtime pianist, had a CD that was still sold at Disneyland as of the last time I checked. It's excellent. Amazon sold it at one time but I just checked that again and it said "discontinued at manufacturer's request".

I wish he were still there at DL, although I hear he does show up every now and again at different OC functions.

Back in the 70's, when I worked Plaza Pavillion, I heard Rod play "The Entertainer" hundreds of times. He would play funky notes sometimes just for fun. When someone would ask him to play "The Sting" sometimes he'd answer - oh you mean the song from the movie "The Entertainer"?

I think this is the CD Radiobarry is talking about.. the list of songs might be helpful to work off of. The songs definitely meet the criteria of upbeat, joyful and happy, alright.

That's it, indeed.

Rod played there for over 30 years, and has a lot of fans on this board (paging Bruce Bergman!) I am indeed one of them.

To the best of my knowledge he never learned to read music.

And he'd stretch the boundaries, like the time I heard him playing a ragtime version of "Norwegian Wood"...

Another great song worth checking out is "Alley Cat" by Bill Justis.

Sarah, I guess I thought you were looking for recorded music as opposed to sheet music. Still, I hope my info is helpful.

In any case there is always the late, great Vince Guaraldi's "Cast Your Fate to the Wind"...and, of course, Linus and Lucy and his other Peanuts creations.

Your information is very helpful, thank you. I am looking for recorded music, I can't read music or play it - I enjoy listening to it

check out Dr. John, especially "Dr. John plays Max Rebenneck" for some great piano boogie woogie that will get you going in the morning and makes me smile. By the way Max Rebenneck is Dr. John's real name. Enjoy

That would be The Entertainer by Scott Joplin.

Most of the Joplin ragtime pieces are "happy". However a couple of them can be slow and melancholy.

Ragtimes can be difficult to play unless you are at least an intermediate to skilled player. The slower ones are easier but as I said they don't sound happy.

Mozart's faster more upbeat pieces tend to be on the happier side, as well as most of the faster movements to Muzio Clemente's Sonatinas.
