Sherman brother's, "the river song"

Has anyone heard this song by the Sherman Brothers, from the musical, Tom Sawyer with Johnny Whittacker and Jodie Foster. I was listening to the River Song today and it actually got me misty eyed, with it's lyrics of a boy growing up into a man. The melody, they ;yrics and listening to Charlie Pride singing it is a real treat. Too bad this song was never incorporated into a Disney movie. If you have not heard it, I highly recommend it. It is another escape from reality.

Thanks. I'll have to listen.

By the way, wasn't Johnny Whitaker that red headed kid on Sigmund the Sea Monster, and a bunch of other really lousy early 1970s sitcoms?

I have a DVD of that movie. I love the music the Sherman Brothers wrote for that. The River Song is a great, though melancholy, song.
