Smile Re: What type of "Family" do you come from?

Today I am sitting here sorting out my family pictures. After being married for almost 40 years, I have lots of pictures to sort. I have a traditional family. Mom and dad had 4 kids. I have a sister and one brother who has passed away, and one who is alive and well. I am married and have 2 boys, and a grandson, who I call my 3rd boy. We are a bit dysfunctional at times.

Families can be such joy at times, and break your heart in little pieces.

I know a lot of people consider MiceChat as their extended family.

Enjoy your family, while they are here, they could be taken away tomorrow.

My bother said that before he passed away unexpectedly. Been over 10 years and I still think my brother's calling about something when the phone rings.

So family is not only biological. My husband is my family. In laws are family, that are not biological. Family (familiar) I have biological family I have never met or seen.

It is the familiar faces that we have grown to love, that many of us consider family. We learn to love these faces, that we get to know. We acquire knowledge of these familiar faces through their words, and their deeds.

Family are the dear ones in our hearts.

Re: What type of "Family" do you come from?

I come from a very large, diverse, and loving family.

I have two sisters, and my mom has three siblings but from there on it explodes! Her mom has six siblings and her dad has twelve siblings (read I have 18 grandparents!) I have 33 first cousins and over a hundred seconds cousins. I love everybody in my family and I consider all of my friends to be very dear family that I just couldn't survive without.

I'm the same way. Now that I'm older I'm much closer to my in-laws than I am with my own family.

My family is very dysfunctional. My husband's family is co-dependent and don't feel they need a daughter -in -law. Anybody want to be my family?

(I'm a firm believer that your family are those that are dear to your heart, biology or not)

Re: What type of "Family" do you come from?

My family is nuts. My mom & real dad divorced when I was 2. My mom remarried my sister's dad and they dicorced when I was 11. My mom and my now stepdad have been together for like 15 years now. My brother, sister and I all have different dads. My sister's dad remarried, as did my real dad. I have like 3 sets of parents. It's effing bizarre. But we all love each other and somehow it works.

Re: What type of "Family" do you come from?

My family is mostly a normal nuclear type of family, but I have a way of adopting others into the fold, usually my daughters friends/boyfriends. I kept asking her over and over if I could finally adopt the guy she is with now (they've been together 3 years now.) She kept saying no so I finally just told him I was adopting him anyway. The "kid" that lived next door to me I call my "adopted" son (he's 31 now) and he still calls me mom #2. Whenever he wants to come home he knows all he has to do is call and say, hey I'll be over tomorrow afternoon (From Arizona)! And I'll go buy him his Coke (I drink Pepsi), and sweep up some of the dog hair for him. I never did clean up the house for him coz he lived next door he saw it at its worst and best. But now he brings his fiance with him so I try to spruce up for her! So I have my biological family and my extended family and to me they are all pretty much the same, blood relations or not.
