Re: As if Pixar weren't amazing enough...

OMG, my heart just sunk to my stomach. That is so sad and yet so touching. That line "I'm ready (to die), but I'm going to wait for the movie." really puts everything in perspective as well as a knot in your throat.

Kudos to Pixar and R.I.P. to Colby. Thanks for sharing that.

Re: Pixar gives 10-y.o. girl her dying wish

I finished reading the OC register article with tears in my eyes. That poor family. God bless Pixar for sending that employee to grant that little girl's wish.

That is so sad! But it's great that Pixar was able to grant her last wish.

Re: As if Pixar weren't amazing enough...

I doubt the cast member was "flown in." There is probably a DVD copy at Disney offices in Burbank. I know someone at Disney who used to coordinate such things with Children's Hospital.

What, you didn't know that Disney/Pixar does this all the time with dying cancer childen? Tooting horns becomes very tiring. I'm glad this story got out, but it wasn't Pixar getting it out. And, now that it's out, it might become an entitlement.

Wow, very touching and sad story . Reminds me when Johnny Depp put on the Jack Sparrow costume and put on story time with the kids at the hospital in the UK. Great work Pixar.

Disney does do a lot more of this sort of stuff than people know. My son was at Children's Hospital LA for 2 heart surgeries and I've heard a few stories there about some of the awesome but small acts of kindness that occur.

Sad about that child. I have horrible, horrible anxieties about children dying.

Re: Pixar gives 10-y.o. girl her dying wish (merged threads)

Tears for the child and her family, and cheers for Pixar and Disney -- who, as SM notes, help families in this manner all the time. To me the story within the story is that when there is nothing more any us can do, the only thing left is to give love.

Great now my eyes are all puffy. Damn it!

The choker: When the mother had to describe the scenes to her daughter, as she could not see due to the pain.

Regardless of the politics involved, a little girl, on her last day, received a final dying wish. So, kudos to Pixar and all those involved that made it happen!

My heart goes out to the Curtin family.

It shows that some of Walt Disney has rubbed off on Pixar. This is a very heartwarming story and I am glad that that little girl got to see the movie and her family got to see her happy before she died.

That's such a sweet and heartwarming story. I am so sorry to hear that such a young child had to go through that
