First Sonic.... Now Jack in the Box!

I live in NY, and we get Sonic commercials all the time... I LOVE Sonic but the nearest one is in NJ, 82 miles away (yes, I knew that already, and I yes, I frequently go to the Web site to see if any are opening up nearby!).

But today, I saw a Jack in the Box commercial!! My husband has lived here his whole live and has never seen one. So I looked it up and the nearest JITB is in North Carolina... Total Time: 10.81 hrs Total Distance: 649.4 miles.

I can get that there are at least some Sonics in the tri-sate area, but the JITB one surprised me.

I know that Dunkin Donuts advertises in CA when the nerest one is in Vegas (I think?). Any other commercials like that one your tv?

Cee Cee's Pizza.

Not that I'm crazy about it, but somebody in my family is, and every time the ad comes on, they check the internet to see if they have opened up a local one.

I was going to say dairy Queen...however I just found out it's in the mall. Now I know why I didn't know where it was. I loathe the mall.

We always have Sonic commercials here too and though they are in my state, the closest one is 40 miles away!

I get commercials for Ruby Tuesday all the time, yet I don't think there are any located in California! Same with Dunkin' Donuts, and we're starting to get Zaxby's commercials too, though I've never even seen one of those places before.

And back when we didn't have a Sonic (pre-2004), we'd get Sonic commercials all the time... I remember seeing commercials for them in 2000.

Jack in the Box and Red Robin. I don't think there's a single Jack in the Box in Florida, but the closest Red Robin to me is in Sarasota or Ft Myers (over 2 hrs away).

Sonics (although there's apparently one 25 miles from me... Huh.), Cici's, and Del Taco. I miss Del Taco.

It's a strategy that I believe was pioneering by Sonic. They are deliberately advertising in areas where none of their restaurants are to be found. It helps in two ways. One, when people are traveling they are in some ways already familiar with the brand and what it offers. Second is that both Sonic and Jack in the Box are expanding across the country. The advertising serves as early exposure so that people know what the restaurants are when locations open in new markets.

I see Jack in the Box and Red Robin commercials all the time.

I would say Popeyes, but we're getting one now!

Theres one commercial for a pizza place where it's adults taking their "fun", little versions of themselves. We don't have that place.
