Re: Pirate Ship Parade Float Help Me!!!

Sorry I would be of no help since i have never built a parade float... or a ship for that matter. However I hope you post pictures of the one you end up doing, I'd love to see how it comes out!

Re: Pirate Ship Parade Float Help Me!!!

I was in a high school sorority and made lots of homecoming floats. If I never see another crepe paper rose...I will die happy.

I think your first step, is getting a HUGE piece of cardboard. Folding it into a V, and you'll need to tape a support beam to the inside to keep it bent. That would make it look like an A. That, laying on one side...would be the bow of the ship. You will need to make another HUGE piece of cardboard into a U for the back of the ship. Then, just line the sides of the trailer with large, brown sheets of paper. We used to get our's from the local paper mill....so, I have NO idea where to tell you to get your's. You can draw wood grain on both the cardboard and the sheets of paper. Dont' forget a few port holes. Voila. Pirate ship.

You could also make masts from stacking up empty oatmeal canisters, and wrapping them with paper. Fasten a pirate flag on the top. And maybe even add a few of those canisters to the sides of the ship for canons.
