Re: Oogies Kitchen Remodel Nightmare

Pictures from today's fiasco have been added. Mrs Oogie had a breakdown tonight after realizing just what was spent in the 7 hours that the electrician was here. So what better thing to do than to spend more money? I took her out to her favorite mexican restaurant, gave her a couple of margarittas, took her home and gave her a shower, and then put her to bed.

Our next step is going to be finish framing the new wall, then we can start putting drywall back up. There is no way in hell that we're going to reach the initial goal of 2 weeks, but at least we know everything is being done right. We'll probably have to hold off on the drywall for a few days since the forcasters are saying rain from Thursday til Saturday.

You're such a sweetie! Taking your wife out and cheering her up! That was a very nice thing to do.

I hope things are all uphill for you now!

Good call on taking care of the wife! You can't go backwards at this point, so you just have to hold your breath for awhile and keep pushing forward. This part will pass. Now that we are at the quiet part where we are waiting on the cabinets to be installed, I'm finding I am sleeping 100 times better already.

I am sure it will all look beautiful at the end- which is the main goal anyway! Good luck to you!

Re: Oogies Kitchen Remodel Nightmare

Thanks all. I'm sure it's going to look great too, and with all the work that's been done (which I honestly feel was necessary), I'm going to feel a whole lot safer about the plumbing and electric outlets.

SusieP... Can you please post some pix on how your remodel is coming?

I can, but do you mind if I stick them in here? I don't want to OT your thread, and yet I don't want to start a new one.

Re: Oogies Kitchen Remodel Nightmare

Photobucket is being a jerk right now.

Crud, I can't make my FB link either. Okay, lemme work on this...

I did the packing, Mr. P. did the demo work.

The damage. Thankfully the cabinets came down easily.

The old white ceramic tile. Blech.

No floor!

New floor! Dusty!

Added some recessed lighting

New floor (but still dusty) and new wall color.

Waiting for cabinets, hopefully next week. We now have our stove back inside the house and our sink hooked up- Mr. P. reused our old work island by cutting a hole for the sink to make a temporary counter. Alas, I only have one pot and one pan to cook in, so we are still really limited. It sure is nice to wash dishes in the sink again though!

Re: Oogies Kitchen Remodel Nightmare

You have a nice sized kitchen. I wish we had that much space.

Re: Oogies Kitchen Remodel Nightmare

It is big, but it's half kitchen/half dining room. It looks really, really big with nothing in it and has an impressive echo, too! There's also a laundry room off to the side, so the new floor went into that room and then in the .5 bath downstairs, too.
