    Re: Tropical Storm Wilma

I heard on the radio this morning that Wilma is now the strongest hurricane ever recorded! Yikes! All you Floridians will definitely be in my thoughts this weekend!

go to bed and it's a minor cat 1, wake up and it's the most powerful Atlantic storm in recorded history?! What the heck is going on?!?!

At least it has peeked in the middle of open water and has nowhere left to go but weaker. Should only be cat 2 at most when it eventually makes landfall, but then again things can change pretty quick.

Open water actually strengthens a hurricane, it's when it hits land that it loses strength. I believe they mentioned when it hits the jetstream taking it towards Florida that it may weaken a bit but it could gain strength once it hits the warm Gulf waters.

Yes but it physically can not maintain this level of intensity. Science says it's just not possible. Getting it into different waters will help as the waters nearer Florida are much cooler currently than those where it has formed. I'm sticking by my prediction until for now, but like I said before, things change pretty quickly.

They already begun evacuating the tourists from the Keys, but they always do that pretty early on so that they have time to get everyone out on the one highway avaialable.

I like your scenario anyway, less headache for the people once it hits land. Rather have it come in at a 2 than this massive storm thats out there. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

My BF wanted me to get out of town and I told him I wanted to wait and see, its just to soon to tell but anything above a 3 and any direct hit probability and I'm out of here.

Summer: the world is trying to tell you it's time to go to WDW.... heed its call

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...

I find the irony in this amusing. My room mates are currently in Florida for a convention at Disney World. They have been looking forward to the trip for months, and now this happens.
    Growing older is manditory
    Growing up is however, optional

Don't know about you Summer (and any other locals), but i'm getting a little tired of the waiting game. I wish it would just do whatever it's gonna do and get it over with so we can all move on.

YOU HEAR THAT WILMA?! PUT DOWN THE TEQUILA BOTTLE AND GET A MOVE ON!
