Oh the things we have seen

One of the things I find extremely fascinating when talking with my elders are all of the things that they have lived through and seen. This got me thinking...what have you all lived to see? What things will you be able to recal when your children and grandchildren ask "Do you remember when.....happened?"

I am probably going to leave alot of things out but I do recal:

    The day Reagan was shot
    The bombing of Libya
    Iran Contra
    Challenger explosion
Pope John Paul II's Visit to Los Angeles (1987)
    The fall of the U.S.S.R
The fall of the Berlin Wall
    The Oklahoma City bombing
    September 11
Numerous earthquakes (some of which I remember vividly to this day.....Northridge, Whittier Narrows)
Desert Storm ( I remember being in a Suppport our troops rally)

I'm forgetting alot...but what do you remember?

Re: Oh the things we have seen

I will definitely be talking about how I watched the Berlin Wall come apart on TV.

I already regale my daughter with how my whole school was gathered in the multi-purpose room watching the Challenger launch on the movie screen. I'll never forget how scared I felt, and never, never will I forget the looks on the teachers faces. It was terrible.

Although I didn't know who he was at the time, I remember my mom crying hysterically when John Lennon was murdered.

My daughter was the one who first saw the footage on the morning of 9/11. She came and got me to explain what was going on. I'm sure she will be telling her kids about that.

Remember the day that JFK was shot - heartbreaking.

Remember the day the United States won the Gold medal in Hockey at the Olympics - happy.

Marge: Barnacle Bill's Home Pregnancy Test? Homer, shouldn't we have gone with a better-known brand?
Homer: But Marge, this one came with a corn-cob pipe!
Marge: [reading from the test box] "Ahoy, Maties! If the water turns blue, a baby for you! If purple ye see, no baby thar be!"
Homer: So, which is it? Blue or purple?
    Marge: Pink.
    Homer: D'oh!
Marge: "If ye test should fail, to a doctor set sail!"
