    Thumbs up The Animation Show

This weekend, I got to see Mike Judge ("King of the Hill") and Don Hertzfeldt ("Rejected") Present the 2nd Annual The Animation Show in Berkeley, CA.

It is a compilation show of ten animated shorts by artists from around the world. I really, really enjoyed it and highly recommend it to anyone who is a fan of animated short films.

Ralphie's sister and her fiancé do voices for Don Hertzfeldt's films. (If you have not seen 'Rejected' go see it right now.) This year Don released his newest one called 'The Meaning of Life'. It's hysterical. It's a departure from his other darker comedy pieces, but it's done quite well.

Other artists featured in the show are Bill Plympton ('Parking' and many MTV shorts) and Jennifer Drummond (animator on 'The Waking Life') to name two.

All of these shorts highlight years and years of artistry and hard work. Support this show if you happen to see it in the paper.

I loved "Mt. Head", very bizzare, but I have yet to see "Rejected" it looks very funny.

I really need to check this out next Year. It would definitely be to my benefit not to miss this. Thanks GC.

I liked that one, too. It was a little long, but still cool. Last year's Animation Show was a little too long for me, this year's is much tighter.
If you haven't seen 'Rejected' you're missing out. It's maybe 7 minutes or so. He also did 'Billy's Balloon' and 'Lilly and Jim'. They're all hysterical in a twisted sort of way.

Totally. Lots of creative people highlighted in this festival.
What I like about these shorts is that a lot of them were done by hand. Not much computer assistance there. It's truly an artform that seems to be going out the window with all the CG movies coming out. I mean, Disney is even phasing out their 2D animation and Disney was one of those companies that brought that artform to the masses...
    Oh well.
