    Mt. St. Helens

Anyone else watching this Mt. St. Helens eruption? Cool stuff! The biggest one since the mountain came back to life last year. I was watching it on the Forest Service cam and it was really neat! It's gotten pretty blurry now, but about 20 minutes ago, you could see the huge plume of steam, and the glow of the lava.

Oh my gosh, someone else who's been watching this, I thought I was the only one. I check it out a few times a day to see what's happening. It's pretty amazing to watch the lava dome grow by the day. The camera has been down for the last few days, and I figured with my luck, this would be the time something major would happen . I see tonight it's back up, but of course, since it's night I can't see a thing. I'll have to check it out tomorrow morning.

It was really impressive. I started watching it about 15-20 minutes after the eruption.

It made me sad to see that something as cool as this was largely ignored by the media, considering that this is one of the largest eruptions that the US has seen in nearly 25 years...

Well, unless you're from Portland and can get a front row seat... All the cool stuff waited til I moved out of WA.

I remeber watching it the first time......... I feel so old! In less than 3 months it will be 25 years since the big eruption.

Funny thing is, I am starting to hear that 80s phrase "don't go all St. Helens on me" again here in the 21st century

Heehee! It was so cool!! Last night on the news they said they're expecting more. I hope so! In October, the "cloud" was on the other side of St. Helens, so we couldn't really see anything here in Portland. Just a generally haziness around the top of the mountain.

Yesterday, I didn't see it until the very end, when my husband got home. We ran down the street and oohed and aaahhed. Just about 6 pm.

Waaaah, I missed it. Dang middle school band concerts anyway. And now it's too cloudy to see anything.

I don't watch the news - so I didn't find out till I read about this morning. It is interesting. Great for the kids to learn about!

Edit: Stinkerbell - that's awesome that you're close enough to check it out!!

I was in the middle of swim practice when the mountain blew. We ran out on the street and watched it in our swim suits.

It's totally clear and gorgeous here in Portland, but it's hazy over Mt. St. Helens, so you can't it at all. We were in NoPo this morning at the Humane Society, but you can't see the mountain!! It's so weird and grey over where it should be in the skyline...weird!
