I have fallen and I can nto get up!! broken ribs !

I believe I broke some ribs last night when I fell full force on the trampoline of my youngest son. I fell full force on the metal bars ( nope I was not lucky enough to hit the bouncy part )and half of my body got crunched. its hard for me to breath in and man I hurt bad. How long does it take ribs to heal and what did you do to speed healing? I can not miss work!! I guess I live and learn and make sure things are always put away right I usually have a neat and clean home, but yesterday they wanted the trampoline in the living room so I let them .any good remedys would help ( and no I will not go to the doctors I do not want her to make me stay off work and I know she will !

I think they need to be wrapped and I would go to the doctors anyway. yeah she'll recommend you stay off work, but she cannot make you not work. You'll also get some pain meds and find out how to take care of them. They will also eray them and find out if they are broke, cracked or bruised.

Hakuna...that's the saddest thing I've heard all morning. I know you might not want to see the dr, but I really think you should, especially if it hurts bad when you inhale. If you did break a rib, you could puncture a lung and you would be in really bad shape. If they're not broken, there's a good chance that they might be fractured. And guess what? If the dr wants you to stay home from work, he might be saying that to....um...MAKE SURE YOU GET BETTER!!

And the upside would be....THINK ABOUT HOW MANY POSTS YOU CAN GET IN IF YOU HAVE TO STAY HOME FOR A WEEK OR SO!!! You'd be on four thousand by next week!!

So...if it still hurts to breathe in...call the doc and get in today. You might even have to make a trip in to the ER. I think you'll want an x ray in any case. If you're not back tonight at 7 mountain, I'll wait til you're feeling better for our post war.

To summarize:

Doctor + xray + lots of drugs + too much time on Micechat = GOOD.

Staying home + puncturing your lung +massive pain = BAD.

GO SEE THE DOC!

Not much you can do for broken ribs! They can xray you, make sure you didn't fracture them enough to puncture a rib...(but you'd know that!) and then give you this big velcro vest thing that will make your waist smaller!(plus side! ) and give you some great pain meds!

That's rough! Ribs can take a while to heal. Take it easy - don't make it worse. Hope you see a doctor soon so they can help you remove the pain in terms of medication and exteral wraps or other treatments.

Ok, I went to the clinic, it was the pain that drove me and yes, I have 2 cracked ribs, and I tore mucle . I got a script for some pain pills ( mom will go get) and am off to lay down under the electric blanket. The doctor opted not to wrap me because of the beathing and told me to make sure to do some deep breathing excercizes. Thank you all, I appreciate your kindness I am off to go under the electric blanket and see if heat will help with the discomfort ( PAIN!! )

I'm glad you went to the doctor. I was just about the repeat the broken record. I hope you heal up soon!

Also, I thought employers were supposed to give you paid time off if you hurt yourself that bad. Or am I just ignorant about the work environment?
