What are you giving up for Lent?

The Lent season is now upon us, and while I am not a religious fundamentalist, I do think it is a good time to follow the tradition, and at least think about giving up something that is not serving me well for the next 40-odd days or so.

As for me, I am giving up fast food, one day at a time, for Lent.

    That's just one example.

    How about you? Thoughts?
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

12 hours in, and so far so good!

How about you? Any thoughts at all?

Re: What are you giving up for Lent?

Not being Catholic I've never done Lent. It's a good idea though, religious or not. I wouldn't know what to give up though. I don't have many non-necessary things in my life at the moment. I don't eat fast food very often at all and I know a common thing to give up is chocolate but I only have chocolate as a reward generally so it's not often enough to be a big deal to give up for forty days.

I gave up Lent, and it stuck. Haven't had to think about it since.

I am a former Catholic, and I noticed even though I go to a church that doesn't believe in that, I won't eat meat on Friday.

Re: What are you giving up for Lent?

I usually don't do Lent, but I do try to give up something anyway just for the good of myself. So I am giving up Cadbury Creme Eggs. I am beyond addicted to them eating 1-2 per day since you can only get them a few months out of the year. I am buying some still to stock up for when Easter is over, but just not eating them.

I have decided to give up worrying for Lent. That sounds good to me. I am Catholic, but please do not hate me because of it, and the fact that I am beautiful too. LoL....

LOL Thank you lent for making Dave give up "that's what she said" jokes.

I'm not sure what to give up. I guess anything that takes my focus away from God and puts it more into something else. Everyone, I'm giving up Disney.
