Somebody has WAY too much time on their hands!

Caught a link to this on a friend's blog, VERY amusing/impressive/OMGWTF. The Griswolds would be proud.

(A word of caution, the video is family-friendly, but the site... is, umm... very male-centric, if you catch my drift. I'm not going to click on any of the links to find out whether they're work-safe or not, but just to be on the safe side, view this from home.)

    http://www.break.com/articles/houselights.html

Make sure the sound is on.

I'm guessing the owner of this house must be involved in theatre, because I can't imagine who else would have access to the kind of computer program necessary to make this happen (not to mention a lightboard!)

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...

    Someone already posted this.

    Wicked.
Agreed about not wanting to be their neighbors!
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

if others didn't have too much time on their hands, where would I get my entertainment from?

That type of technology is simplier then you think but it still takes a lot of work. I have the same type of technology but better. This will help www.animatedlighting.com
What I think he is using is a X10 system which is outdated. His appears to not have the ability to fade and do flicker effects and some really cool things.

This one is done way better with a traditional song:

    http://www.animatedlighting.com/gallery/mikez.wmv

Also if you dont like the sound going off they do have a FM transmiter that you can hook up to broadcast over a short range radio channel. Not to mention you can set when you want the show to start and when to stop. You can tell it I want the show only to go on Friday, Sat, and Sun from 6PM-9PM. So I dont think it is really bothering anyone. If you think it is bothering you, you dont care how much hard work goes into creating something such as that. It is also not about having too much time on our hands it is about caring enough to give entertainment to the public and providing a wow factor when normal lighting is just boring. I remember being up till 4 AM outside in the freezing cold with my laptop programming mine for halloween because I wanted it to be perfect for my guests. Also you can program multiple shows so it isnt just one song usually. For my system I have over 15 different christmas songs programed.

And just think, for the low low price of $2500 you can have it all! (That includes the control box with music sync, an extra control box, the outdoor speaker kit, the FM transmitter, the haunted house kit, and a case of the mini lights)

I got everything I needed for $750. All you need is the christmas kit with music sync and the animation software if you want custom programed shows. Without the software it already has 5 songs programed for you. You do not have to use any of their lights if you dont want to. Also the FM transmitter is optional as is the speaker kit. You can hook up any computer speakers to it.

Evan if you saw what I said a couple posts back I said that you can program it to turn off at a certain time. You can have it turn on any day of the week and turn it off at 9PM if you wish. It doesn't take anyone to turn it off manually, you set it and forget it.
