What Are Some Good Reliable Disaster Relief Fund Organizations That Help Children

I've heard that "Save The Children" is a good organoization to donate to on in order to help children that are victims of disasters in america and aboad. What are the best organizations in terms of effectiveness and trustworthiness I fear the damage that may occur as a result of Hurricane Irene. It appears like millions of people on the east coast are planning on riding the storm out.

I wish I knew. I tend to stick with the Red Cross when a disaster motivates me to give. For helping the down and out kids, I focus on local charities I know well. In L.A. County, I give to Catholic Charities, which runs some boys clubs and soup kitchens I know well. In Orange County, I give most of my money to Orangewood (Orangewood Children's Foundation : Home Page) which really is a fantastic organization.
