I agree, it's hard to believe it's been 25 years.
    I still miss him.
Someday they will release the last of the FBI files on John Lennon, Nixon just could not understand that someone could write words like:
"Give Peace a Chance" and "All you need is Love".
Imagine, Love and Peace, what a concept.

They finaly released the FBI papers on Mick Jagger, and indeed in 1969 J.Edgar Hoover and Nixon ordered the planting of drugs in Jaggers NYC Appt, in an attempt to deport him. Surprise, surprise.

As for what they did to Lennon, you know they tried to nail him too. A Dirty government does so much more damage than we know until years later. We will be seeing the same filth coming from the White House today effecting us years from now.

Re: 25 years ago tonight- John Lennon Murdered

The late George Harrison said it best in his song "All those Years Ago"

    I’m shouting all about love
While they treated you like a dog
When you were the one who had made it
    So clear
    All those years ago.

I’m talking all about how to give
They don’t act with much honesty
But you point the way to the truth when you say
    All you need is love.

    Living with good and bad
I always look up to you
Now we’re left cold and sad
By someone the devil’s best friend
    Someone who offended all.

We’re living in a bad dream
    They’ve forgotten all about mankind
And you were the one they backed up to
    The wall
    All those years ago
You were the one who imagined it all
    All those years ago.

    Deep in the darkest night
I send out a prayer to you
Now in the world of light
Where the spirit free of the lies
And all else that we despised.

    They’ve forgotten all about god
He’s the only reason we exist
Yet you were the one that they said was
    So weird
    All those years ago
You said it all though not many had ears
    All those years ago
You had control of our smiles and our tears
    All those years ago

Re: 25 years ago tonight- John Lennon Murdered

I was mad, once, during training at the gym--the old supervisor had gotten in first and changed the radio station to the oldies. I love rock and roll, don't get me wrong, but still, the older stuff just isn't very easy to lift to.

But then Penny Lane came on. I started singing the tune. I knew all of the words, as if by magic. Later, that same morning, Strawberry Fields started playing and zing--I knew all the words.

I know, so what's the point? There isn't something magic, but magical in this story. My babysitter. Every Wednesday night, while my mother drove into the city to work at a dancing school, MindyLou would come and watch me. And dang, she loved those Beatles. Albums that I could identify now because of her. And I would listen again and again with her.

Until I could sing those songs by heart.

So when Mr. Lennon passed on, it was on a Wednesday night. Mindy was devasted. She couldn't stop crying. And neither could I, seeing her heart break. I began to realize the power this man had and has.

I will remember him, if not for myself, for Miss Mindy all those years ago. She's moved on, off to Florida and I hear from her now and again.

And I never forget this day.

    Peace to all,
