    WWII Mickey Mouse Gas Mask

I ran across this article about Mickey Mouse gas masks that were distributed to children during WWII. Super creepy. Has anyone ever heard of these or seen one in a museum somewhere? How about other strange Disney products from the past?

Looked like it was working though. Child was still alive and breathing.

I guess I'm the only one who thinks it's kinda cool.

I'd imagine someone could get a pretty penny for it (if someone still has one)

To that end I'd like the Internet community to join me in reminding the Disney company that "it all started with Walt." As you can see below we've created some T-shirts, plus a few simple graphics that you can copy and paste into your websites to let folks know how you feel.

"Super creepy" and "pretty crazy"? With all respect, and nothing personal, but those remarks are, in my opinion, super creepy and crazy. This was a time when the entire world(except Switzerland)was at war. The officials found a way to keep our children safe, "just incase". Now if those remarks were because of the fact they were sort of like Mickey, well, can you think of something better that would not scare children? Have you even seen real gas masks? They are "super creepy" and "pretty crazy". Anyway, just IMHO.

The only thing I find even remotely creepy about it, is the way Mickey did actually look back then. Mickey was pretty creepy. Other than that, what a good way to keep the kiddos safe!

I would hasten to add here the painful irony that Walt and Roy moved their parents Elias and Flora Disney, to a home close to the studios. Less than a month later Flora died of asphyxiation caused by gas leak from a faulty furnace in the new home.

The terrible guilt of this haunted Walt for the rest of his life.
