Disney In Rose Parade - New Years Day

Yesterday (saturday, 12/17) the first test of the Disney Rose Parade Float was conducted. (cellular camera photos available)
The float is enormous. It is 146 feet long!!

It is equipped with four v8 engines. Two to move the float and two to run the animation. There will be approximately 24 riders and 45 people walking with the float.

While not Disneyland's float, This is attached to Disney.

So is the above what the Disney float will be or will there be something else for the parks with Disney characters present?

Because it the above is it, then what a disappointment.

The first link is for NAMM, the International Music Products Association's 2006 entry in to the Parade. The second (and third) links are for Disneyland Park's entry into the parade.

Also, ESPN is also having a float in the parade this year. That's a lot of Disney!

wow...i'm starting to get depressed. first...the parade is on the 2nd because of the "never on sunday" policy. second, the rose bowl game isn't till the 4th or something like that (which just seems sacrelegious to me...jan. 1st=rose parade and football game!! . thirdly, SHOW STOPS!! no, the rose parade DOES NOT need show stops! i've been going to the parade for 20 years now and it already goes slow enough as it is...and i don't know how the tournament troop (award banner carrying scouts) are going to like it..they already b*tch about the 5.5 mile walk. and, my last rant, the float...the five castles and kids.........wow?.... i'm thinking disney needs to bring in Raul Rodrigues, king of float design, to create something that's just not....well, not a recreation of an attraction (or very closely related to) at the park. ok...enough of the rant...i'll be there with a smile anyway at my usual corner (which has just become even more wonderful cause they put in a Tiffany's!!...but took out Goldstein's bagels...eeh, can't win 'em all!)

This is a photo of the float. As you can tell, they have a ways to go before it will be decorated. The NAMM float and the ESPN float are related to Disney only because they corporate entities are within the Disney Corporation

The NAMM float sounds pretty cool. It make sense Disney is involved because NAMM holds their big trade show every January at the Anaheim convention center. A friend of mine works for a guitar company who has a booth there every year so he goes to work the show.
