I am aghast and very displeased. I don't live in NYC (or anywhere close for that matter) but I find the transit strike to be totally unacceptable. NYC is the biggest city we have and is the heartbeat of the economy of our nation. During the busiest shopping week in the entire year a bunch of whining babies are shutting the city down by not driving the buses/trains. During a time of War this makes the act totally disgraceful.

I know what mode of transportation I WON'T be using when I travel to NYC. sincy your taking our economy to the woodshed...I'll take your paycheck to the woodshed by not contributing to it with my money.

Sorry folks...I just had to rant this morning.

Yes, ladies and gentlemen....here are your union $$$ hard at work. They know they have NYC by the family jewels...city full of people right before Christmas with snow flurries due tomorrow. I think the city will write them a blank check. I can't imagine Manhattan with no subway or trains running into the city.

Ahhhhh the tv/radio reporters live for this stuff! They are all excited they have more air time to yap about it.

DH has to leave work an hour earlier now due to the cars with less than 4 people being turned away.

The news tonight said that the strike is costing the City $400,000,000/day. The Union is being fined $1,000,000/day.

On the other side NYC garbage collectors seem to have a tradition of going on strike in the worst heat of summer.

This strike sucks and I am so happy that word is everything will be up and running tomorrow. 4 days of this commute from hell and I can't wait for it to be over! I live in Queens and work in midtown. my normal 40 minute door to door commute now is 2 hours by car (which if I drove on a normal day would be 30 minutes). its freezing, the city is a mess, and holiday shopping is impossible.

Good news!

However the bad news is that the strike has left the Red Cross up there in a major crisis. I am waiting for the first story to come out that someone has died because they could not get the blood they needed and that the Transit Uinon is sued out of their eyeballs because of it. The union folks should think carefully about the impacts a strike might cause before going on one. Yes inconveniences have been caused however they have created a situation where people who need to work can't get there (I mean those who are on limited budgets and can't afford to not work) and they have created a situation where people could die because of a blood shortage.
