Re: Its tax season time!! yay or nay for you?

I look forward to it, thanks to my four little tax deductions!

We pay to have it done. Take the paper bag full of paperwork into the office, pick the forms up a few days later, all ready to sign and mail.

Then all I have to do is wait for the check...

I do my taxes myself by using one of the tax software you can use online for free (there are quite a few that are free to use). We usually get money back, and that goes to paying for our Disney AP's for another year.

Re: Its tax season time!! yay or nay for you?

I'm curious to see what will happen for our taxes last year. I really only worked one semester and then had to quit my job for student teaching. I worked part time, but barely made any money at that. Plus I get to write off a percentage of my tuition...I'm hoping this will actually HELP us for this year. We usually come out even, which, technically, is right where you want to be. It sure is nice getting a refund check though!

With the house, kid, and a business...we now have an Accountant do them for us. He's a good friend and client of ours, so he does them quite inexpensively. Used to do our own, but that's when we got money back...!!! LOL Now since we pull draws from the business, we have to pay and we have to pay a LOT! I send in estimates 4 times a year to the Feds, but it never seems to be enough! HATE tax time!

Re: Its tax season time!! yay or nay for you?

I love tax time. We purposely have them take out more than they need to so that we get a big refund back. Yes, we could use that money during the year but if we did get it, it would just absorb into everything else. This way, we get a sweet refund and a chunk of money all at once and can use it for bigger things - this year, part of it is taking me and my girls to Disneyland! I'm sitting here very impatiently waiting for our W2's and the daycare tax form, the days aren't going fast enough.

Our tax situation is pretty basic, so we do our taxes ourselves and always get a pretty good refund. I have a deferred compensation account (similar to a 401k) through work, which saves money. It's never too early to save for retirement and you get an immediate tax break.

heh- that's familiar. I work for a record keeping company- that's what we do. a 401(k) is a deferred compensation plan- IRS code 401a.

Man, work has crept into MC.

I like tax time- this year is going to be weird because I am not sure if I can claim Davis since he lived at a residential center for most of the year.

I file myself- so I will probably just call the IRS and ask them.

Re: Its tax season time!! yay or nay for you?

I do mine... it costs too much to get 'em done and they're not so bad. I usually get a decent refune - it'd pay for my Vegas birthday trip. Last year, I sold stock and bought a car so i'm not sure wht I'll get back or how complicated they'll be! the good news is that I get something, between student loan interest and renter's credit
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

Re: Its tax season time!! yay or nay for you?

I don't know that I'll be so happy this tax time. We'll see when I get my tax info. I made some sales back when I was in insurance, and taxes are not taken out of those commissions, so I may end up owing. Usually I get money back - in fact, one year the IRS contacted ME to say that they thought I may have gotten too small a refund and would I please fill out this form so they could see! And yes, they DID send me another check!

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...

I think everyone should get enough refund to pay off all their credit cards!

    Unfortunately, oh well...

But Tax time usually doesn't bother me, just something else to do, get it done.

My grandfather once said, "Taxes aren't all bad, the more taxes you pay, that means the more you made during the year!"

Don't really mind taxes, keeps our country running. As long as they leave me something, that's OK!
