Oscar ballots on their way Noms must be received at PricewaterhouseCoopers by Jan. 21 By LAURA GREFE  PricewaterhouseCoopers managing partners Rick Rosas, foreground, and Brad Oltmanns load up ballots for the 78th Academy Awards.Nomination ballots for the 78th annual Academy Awards were mailed out Thursday. The 5,798 ballots were numbered and sorted to ensure that everyone will get his or her ballot and that no duplicates exist. All ballots must be received at PricewaterhouseCoopers by Jan. 21 at 5 p.m. to be counted and tallied. Noms will be announced at 5:38a.m. on Jan. 31 at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater. Oscars will be held March 5 at the Kodak Theater.

| Re: Oscar Nominees Announcement? Cool! There will be this brief period of time when all of the "good" movies will be re-released and I might be able to see them all. That's usually a pointless goal though. I never see all I want to see. YAY for Netflix. |

I'm pretty sure the movie theatre would be burned to the ground if a gay cowboy movie started playing.... its unfortunate...

Dec. 17, 2004 Academy stakes out March 5 for '06 Oscars The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is shifting dates for its Academy Awards once again, but this time the move is much less dramatic than the change that occurred this year when the Oscars moved from its traditional late March spot to Feb. 29. While the upcoming Oscar show will stick to late February -- the 77th Annual Academy Awards are set for Feb. 27 -- the Oscars will shift to early March in 2006. The Academy's board of governors has voted to hold the 78th Annual Academy Awards on March 5. Under its current calendar, the 78th awards would have taken place Feb. 26, but that also is the date of the closing ceremony of the 2006 Winter Olympics, which NBC will broadcast from Turin, Italy.
