DH & I are kinda this way about Christmas. To us Christmas is Christ's birthday, yet all we hear is; "What did you get?" "Did you get what you wanted?" "That's the it toy this year!" This past year some people even decided to wage a war on Christ's Birthday, I'm sure he was thrilled.
Several years ago DH & I realized that God had given us everything we needed. And we are fortunate enough to be able to get everything we want as well. We still buy presents for family and close friends, but we no longer buy presents for ourselves. The commercialism of Christmas is just too much.
Valentines Day doesn't have to be more than a simple card and an I love you, but we do recognize it because we do love each other. As a matter of fact we could skip the card, it's the I love you that counts.
