Don't let me or my kids see those movies? That's not your choice to make. And that's the end of the story.

The government makes decisions about what kids can do all the time. Kids have to go to school, for example, or be home schooled. You can't just magically decide that schooling isn't for your kids. The movie rating system is already in place, would you argue that kids be allowed to see R rated? Certainly kids shouldn't see X rated stuff. Smoking is a lot more dangerous than picking up a cursing habit, makes sense to make movies R rated, i.e. "opt in". Meaning you can let your kids see R rated films, you just have to be there with them. Make smoking films R rated, your kids can still see them with your permission.

This is not true. Disney has no "rules" regarding smoking being portrayed in their films. Saving Mr. Banks, which opens in December, consists of Tom Hanks as Walt Disney smoking throughout the entire film.

Re: Is Avatarland Finished Due to Smoking and Violence?

This thread is now extraordinarily off-topic anything having to do with a proposed Avatar expansion to Animal Kingdom, and even threads that are on-topic to that alone slip into personal arguments based on past precedent. This thread is now being moved to the discussion lounge, and please keep things civil and respectful to prevent possible shutting down of the entire thread or having to remove whole sections of conversation (which is an action staff takes only as a last resort).

Disney does have rules regarding smoking, they were announced by Bog Iger years ago:
