Having fun in another thread and this question just popped into my head.

Are you right or left handed?

I am right handed. Everyone in my immediately family, growing up was right handed. My mom had a twin sister and 2 of her daughters were left handed. People use to deliberately try to change the lefthanded children to be righthanded.

When my grandson was born, I assumed he would also be right handed. When he learned how to throw a ball, he would catch the ball and automatically put it in his left hand. It was then we realized he was going to be left handed. We had to adjust to his left handedness. When I taught him how to bat, I turned around his way and showed him the proper way for a lefty to bat.

I now notice leftys more often. I remember when they changed the host of the children's show Blue's Clues. Steve was right handed and Joe was left handed.

Lou Gehrig's mom iin the movie Pride of the Yankees was upset, when an award he was given portrayed him as a right handed person.

So are you a Southpaw, a lefty? Or are you also right handed like me?

The Shoeless Joe mistake was a bad casting choice. I believe they did some kind of photographic editing with Gary Cooper to make him a lefty.

Somewhat feel that the right-hand thing came from parents saying that it was the right way to hold a pencil.
