    The Enchanted Tiki Patio

    Just wanted to share photos of our patio that was inspired by the Enchanted Tiki Room. This decor was done over a year ago as a clever way to hide our storage tubs, and was loved by neighbors and guests alike. Unfortunately, a tropical storm (in the form of a new regional apartment manager) came through, forcing us to tear it all down. (However, the plastic storage tubs are allowed to stay - I guess those are less of an "eyesore". ) Anyway, just wanted to share the final photos of our creation:

    "Behind-the-scenes":

    We're in the process of moving it (sans containers) into our apartment, and theming our dining room. It will take about a month, but I'll be sure to post photos when it's complete.

    Wish the pictures worked for me *sigh*

    I'm sorry you had to take it apart. It's a shame that some people have no sense of wonder or whimsy.

    It is probably blocked from work- yes.

    I'll try again at home, been having the same problem with your wedding dress pictures.

    I can see them from work, which is VERY odd.

    But... nice tiki.

    You should get some of the Shag stuff to add to the decor... like the barware and such.

    OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so glad I got to see it in person before it met your new Manager! I'm sure the Dining Room will look awesome though. I thought the patio added a bit of color and brightness to your end of the complex....such a shame!

    Definitely. We're going to take a few more "liberties" since it's moving inside. The bamboo and reed "fencing" is being recycled to cover the dining room walls, and we're adding a thatched awning over the breakfast nook counter to make it into a bar. I refuse to be defeated by some stupid new manager. The only thing we don't dare bring in is the firepit.

    Total cool patio decor, DP. Sorry the Balcony Nazi has had to ruin the fun.

    But it won't be complete until you bring in a firepit and a whole roasted pig!

    Great pictures! I can't wait to see how the dining room turns out.

    It looks so awesome DP makes me it has to go away. But I bet you're going to have a BLAST doing the dining room!

    Have you seen the new tiki's at Target? They're in the outdoor section and under $50. Me and the boys saw them from ACROSS the store Shawn said "just like the tiki room"

    WOW! I had absolutelyl NO idea all that mess was behind those bamboo walls when I was there! I can NOT believe the manager is fine with the look of the storage boxes without the walls, how stupid!

    That sucks you had to take it down! I'm glad though that you've figured out a way to still have it by moving it inside. Who knows, perhaps the indoor version will turn out even better than the original.
