    Dating tips and stories

My divorce will be final on Feb. 4!! (YAY ) While I am a sweet and charasmatic person , put me in front of another male and I am frozen solid with fear.

Since i've been out of the dating loop for over 8 years, I definitely need help and pointers. For us singletons who are still out there looking to kiss some more toads before the prince (or princess) comes along, share your dating stories and tips!!

For the committed folk, share your knowledge so that we may take some good sense with us as we travel along the road of dating.
She walks in beauty, like the night
    Of cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that's best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes.....

If you are looking for a great place to meet people, I recommend www.imatchers.com

It is free and you never have to pay to post a profile or search or contact others. One of the only FREE ones out there.

This may not apply to you, but to any current CMs, you must live by the 3Ds: Don't Date Disney.

It took me a while to figure this one out, despite the fact that I met my boyfriend while working at DLR, we're still together and he still works there.

Are you looking to get into a long-term relationship? If not, I think that bars are a great way to meet new people and chat (though sometimes the background music can be really loud).

Ooh... try getting set up on a blind date. It worked for Jennifer Aniston . And despite their being separated at the moment, wouldn't you take the chance to get set up with someone like Brad Pitt?!

you know the Dont Date Disney thing doesnt always work. i dated away from disney a few times and it didnt work out. mainly cuz our schedules were always different as well as other things. i usually do date disney cuz at least i know that we will be able to see each other and hang out for free and get discounts and stuff. it has worked out for me before and it is still working for me now.

you could always try having your friends set you up with one of their friends that has had a crush on you since the first day they met you. one of my mom's friends met her husband through match.com and they seem perfectly happy together. or better yet just go to singles' bars and just meet people there. you just need to get out there and let people know that you are single as well and let them come to you.

Dusty: Don't take offense, but if I had Brad's number I'd keep it all to myself!

Of course the 3Ds don't always ring true... there are the rare exceptions. Like I said in my post, I did meet my boyfriend while working at DLR and it was nice that we could schedule the same shifts/days off. However, I no longer work there and coordinating that kind of thing is tough with Scheduling requirements. I think it's a great place to find dates when you're around your late teens/early twenties, though it's easy to get lost there and wind up sticking around for a long time.

Don't ask me for dating advice... the Don't Date Disney rule seems to be a major turn-off around here.

Of course, I'm also to far to Date Disney as well...

Maybe we should start a Disney dating service for the rest of us?

I would nix the "Don't date Disney rule"

If anything having a partner is just that..it gives you strength and security.

And having one possibly nearby would be better than cross town.

    Congratulations on the divorce.

Well, considering my own situation, which you know in depth, I'm pretty sure you also know I have no dating advice other than this:

Find Simon Pegg. Make him yours.

    Marriage. Babies. The End.

Of course, I hear he's engaged to a lovely girl. ******* lovely girls.

Me, I'm still looking for Oliver Mellors. But I think that involves being married to a war vet and living in England.

Well I don't know if this is good advice to anyone else but for me I'm going to rent a house in Hawaii for about a month and hope i get lucky and meet my next partner. its kinda hard for a 48 year old guy like me to find a new relationship in the small town where I live up here in Alaska, everybody knew my wife and thus you have this invisible wall around you not knowing who was for or against you.

In the meanwhile I'm thinking of buying a Honda or a Victory motorcycle so I can cruise around the state when things warm up this summer. Go places where its all fresh, new faces and sights.

Dating Disney CMs is really interesting... just imagine..you and you're significant other are the famous celebrities, and everyone around you..is the paparazzi, wanting to know what you two are up to 24/7!!! Its hard, even if you are just friends, and they think you are together, even if you're not! Its hard, but if you find that special person, that makes you happy and doesn't make you crazy, then it can work, and no one doesn't need to know!

I just broke up with my boyfriend of 11 yrs (I see your shocked face, YES 11!) so I completely understand where you are coming from. If you're over 30, I suggest the internet. Places like eharmony but not Match are really good. Into church? Then go to every church related to your religion. It's a great place to meet people your own age & interests. Join a volunteer group. A great way to give back and meet new people (not just the dudes either). Most importantly, have fun. I mean you just got divorced! Go out with a bunch of chicks and have a ball. That's what I'm doing!!
