I don't play the lottery very often.OK well usually not at all. When the jackpot is this high though, I can't resist for some reason.
Do you play the lottery? If so which kind....scratch offs, or what? Any lucky numbers? I think I will buy a ticket today! Wish me luck!!

The lottery is a temporary license to fantasize about what one would do if he/she were to win.

OR

It's a tax on people who do not understand statistics and/or feel they transcend them.

Most likely, its a combination of both factors. We all want our own rags-to-riches story without doing any of the work. This is why the lottery prospers. Too bad those who cannot afford to play do so more often in proportion to those who can stand to lose the money. Playing the lottery is not investing, it's gambling.

I think we'll buy about $5 worth.

We only play the powerball when it gets insanely high, but then we only purchase tickets with spare change around the house or the bottom on my purse or in jean pocket we wore the day before.....you know money you have but forgotten about or don't really need.

You have a good point there...I only play $1 or $2 afterall, that's all it takes. I only play what I can stand to lose. That's probably why I've only gone to Vegas once since after I turned 21!
