    Spaghetti and Meatballs

So, on Friday we decided to get Lady and the Tramp. The requirement was a good spaghetti and meatballs and overall romantic evening in tribute. We didn't want to go out, we have never had a good experience with the dish at any restaurant. And my husband's grandmothers both have passed on (their recipes with them), so we resorted to the internet.

I have to share this site. We had an absolute blast making this! It took us about 3 hours and 45 minutes but it was soooo very much worth it! We ended up with enough sauce for the two of us to have a gigantic portion of spaghetti on Friday, a tortellini mixture on Saturday, leftover spaghetti tonight and still enough sauce to make Anthony's lasagna if we wanted to.

He offers a printable grocery list (don't forget the pasta though!) and very detailed step by step instructions in the recipe. We put on several of our Opera CD's and drank a basic chianti we bought for the recipe while we cooked the sauce. We can't think of a time we've had more fun dining in at home!

As an added bit of fun, when we were done with the chianti we stuck a white candle in the top to eat by candlelight. Very romantic! LOL

Anyway, peruse the site. You'll probably be surprised.

Yummy looking! The auditory commercial was a bit annoying but the food looked great!

The link didn't work for me. Got some sort of generic Microsoft site.

BTW: Maggiano's makes pretty darn good spaghetti & meatballs.

    correct link!

and that sounds like a fabulous night
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

    Sorry for the link problem!

Maggiano's I'm assuming is a restaurant in the West?

    Re: Spaghetti and Meatballs

i make what i call my all day sauce(since it cooks all day i get a huge can of tomato sauce from costco, another of tomato puree(some people prefer crushed, i dont like chunks) and a package of tomato paste. i put that all in a large pot with a lid along with 1 or 2 cloves of garlic, about half a bottle of red wine(something inexpensive that still tastes good) and a bunch of italian seasoning mixture(i dont measure, but prob 3-4 tbl maybe) then i simmer it on low for 6-8 hours, makes yummy sauce and after it cools, i put it in freezer ziplocks and we have sauce for a long time, i purposely dont add anythign else so its just sauce , then when we make dinner we can add meats, veggies, etc. i also use some for pot roast, yummy!
