    Little Britain

I'm really surprised at how many people on these boards know, recognise and like Little Britain - I always thought it would be hard for other countries to recognise the humour as they are all based on aspects of British culture that, well, only the British really know about. I'm so glad the humour has translated (cos you don't have to know about our 'yob' culture to understand how ridiculous Vicky Pollard is) and especially into such a big market as the US. So has anyone got any questions on some of the more bizarre, or any at all aspects of the show? Who is your favourite character/sketch? Is Series 2 showing, are are you guys still on Series (sorry, Season) 1?

    Re: Little Britain

Well, haven't seen Little Britain yet, so I can't say anything specifically about it.

However, many of us that watch BBC America on a regular basis have become familiar enough with british customs, words, and such, that we do find the humour.

I know I'm one of those that are rather familiar with british culture enough to get most of the jokes. Actually, british people keep telling me that I seem rather british to them or that I should've been born a brit. (Oddly, I seem to know more about what's on the telly than some british friends...)

I do have a love for some british foods, too... unfortunately, all the good stuff is too expensive here!

I'll just say that if you've ever worked with teenagers, you "get" Vicky Pollard, even if you can't always understand what the heck she is talking about!

This might not be the right thread, Speedway, but could you fill us Yanks in a bit more regarding your background? What kind of school do you attend? For instance, here in the states we have Kindergarten through 6th grade as elementary school, 7- 9th grade as middle school, and 10th - 12th as high school. Have you attended public schools in Britain? I believe you said you were 17. What types of classes are you taking now? Do you have prefects and head masters at your school? Are you planning on attending a university in the UK? Sorry if I'm being nosey, but I'm very interested in hearing about some of the differences in your everyday life compared to ours.

Also...do you watch some of our shows? Do you get reruns of "Friends" and "Seinfeld" or do you get more current shows like "Lost" or "Desperate Housewives?"

Back on topic...I'll try to check out Little Britain this week. It sounds very interesting.

    That's odd...

K-5 is elementary, 6-8 is middle, and 9-12 is high school around here.
