About the tv deal...last I heard...and this was like last Thursday or Friday...not only had the Angels not found a new over-the-air outlet (with Channel 9 now the Dodger station, but talks had broken off with Fox Sports Net West on a contract extension...to where FSN would show only about 60 games this season..and none on the road. They were still hoping to hammer out a deal, put some games on channel 56, and others...gives "check your local listings" a whole new meaning...

Back to the future, people. Baseball on the radio. Not every game on tv. The difference...in the old days, road games were the only ones shown!!!

Oh by the way...after attending the Karla extravaganza and seeing my mother who lives in Westminster now, I had a nice surprise for the 2-hour drive home when I got in my car at 9-15 PM Pacific Time. I turned on our local ESPN Radio outlet to find out that the White Sox-Indians opener was still...in the 4th inning...The Sox hammered out an opening 10-4 win, in a game that featured a three-hour rain delay, with the game ending after 1AM Monday Chicago time.

What a way to open the season.
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

    Re: Talkin' Baseball 2006 - It's Here!

The Chicago Sun Times has quite a few pages about the Sox opener. The ballpark, U.S. Cellular Field now has a World Campionship Banner in Left Field. Now, I am more of a Cubs fan than a Sox fan, but I did have the game on my television. I watched until the rain came down like buckets. I finally figured out how to listen to the radio gameplay on my computer through the Major League website. It is a really good offer to be able to listen to all the ballgames of the season for only $14.95.

When I have time, I am going to read all of the Sox articles in the morning paper.

Last night, was the first time that the Sox team has taken the field, to play a game since winning the World Series. They clinched all their titles on the road.

I can certainly understand the joy of the fans. Cubs are definitely the 2nd team in town for the moment.

I read about the score on my computer homepage this morning. There was an almost 3 hour rain delay, and the game didn't end until after 1.am.

Cubs play in Cincinatti this afternoon.

    Play Ball.

Cubs win their opener 16 to 7, over the Cincinnati Reds. I listened to the game as I cooked up some stuffed green peppers, lasagna, mostaciolli, and spaghetti. Those are my husband's favorite things to eat, and now he has some lunches, and dinners for the rest of the week.

President George Bush threw out the first pitch. Just curious as to why he did not do that at Sox Park last night? Didn't the Sox technically play the first game of the season?

Somedays a baseball team can't get one run to win a game. On other days, it is a laugher. I think that is the correct term.

Perhaps I will now watch the Dodger, Braves, game.

    Play Ball.

White Sox ballplayers receive their rings tomorrow. The Sox are also presenting a ring to the widow of Bill Veeck. Bill Veeck was a popular owner of the Sox.

DMof2, I just turned on "your New York Yankees". Lots of runs being scored these first baseball games.

Cubs scored 16 runs against Cincinnati.

The White Sox scored 10 against Cleveland.

Lots of runs. Yankees just scored #12 and it's only the 5th inning.

22 runs scored all together in that Braves, Dodger game. Yankees just scored run #13.

I guess the pitchers might be a little rusty.

Today, Chicago baseball is all Sox. The game is most likely sold out, as the first 30,000 fans to enter the ballpark, receive replica championship rings.

The ring ceremony is at 12:30 p.m. The game begins at 1:05
