    Re: Talkin' Baseball 2006 - It's Here!

Not too proud of the Chicago media. I know that I have been critical of the White Sox performance of late, but the Chicago media is brutal. Winning back to back championships, or getting into the playoffs, is not an easy thing. Why do the newspaper columnists feel the need to assign blame? A manager gets blamed for a team losing, when the team consists of 9 players, who bat and field. Perhaps credit is due instead to the opposing teams, who have performed well. Making their own magic on the field.

On a positive note, buried in the 8 to 2 loss to the Detroit Tigers, the White Sox turned a Triple Play. It was the 2nd in the 2006 season. The other one was on May the 14th, against the Twins.

Newspaper recaps it as: A pop up to Joe Crede, 1 out, he throws to Tadahito Iguchi, who tagged second to double off the runner for the 2nd out. Runner coming from first to 2nd is then tagged out for the 3rd out.

Well all the papers here are covered with the Mets NL East Champ pics....

I tip my hat off to Willie Randolph- he is a Joe Torre in the making

Yankees magic # is 3- Having 2 double headers over the weekend just didn't go the way we would have liked but hey, can't win them all

    Re: Talkin' Baseball 2006 - It's Here!

The Chicago Sun Times newspaper, which I do attempt to read each morning, has several articles about the White Sox manager today. Ozzie has decided that the failure of his team is his fault. He claims, that because last year he was given much credit for the success of his team, this year he must take the blame, if they fail to win another World Series.

Sox fans were so happy last year, that it can't help but be a letdown to not do it again. You think that your team has all the right parts to repeat. It's a good team, on paper, and then you fall flat.

No one wants to just settle for almost. Sports is, unfortunately, what have you done for me lately?

I enjoy watching baseball, and I will continue to root for Chicago teams. I won't say "Wait Till Next Year". That saying really irks me. However, life goes on, despite what is happening on the ballfield. There are more things important. Just ask Derrek Lee, who has left the Cubs to care for his ailing daughter, who has lost the vision in her eye, unexpectedly.

It will be interesting to see what happens next. What teams will make it to the playoffs? I will be watching. I love the game. Good baseball is played by many players on many teams. I guess I am one of those odd fans who doesn't hate the other team. After all it is only a game.

Leave it to the Dodgers to follow up an incredible comeback by giving up 10 runs and losing to the Pirates.

I do have to say, who is this Marlon Anderson, and why didn't we trade for him much earlier? The guy is on fire!

We're going to need help from the Cardinals next week to get the lead back from the Padres. I just hope if the Dodgers are going to get bumped out of the playoffs by the Padres and Phillies, just do it before the last series. I can't stand getting eliminated by the Giants!

Yanks can clinch the AL East tonight with a win over Toronto.

Will they do it? Or will they choke like the Mets did in Pittsburgh? Something tells me they'll be sipping some bubbly tonight

Oh, perhaps I should be jealous. New York will have 2 teams in the playoffs, and Chicago just has their memories.

Is it 2008 that will be the 100th Anniversary? I'm not trying to be mean, I am just trying to remember when the Cubs last won the World Series.

I believe that the previous poster is indeed true. Your not mean, not really, as a Chicagoan, we hear it a lot.

Thanks to Frank Thomas once again we are now 5 away from the post-season. The true question though is whether we can finally get past the first round playoffs. Why do I feel like I'm only setting myself up for failure?
