    Angry UNbelievable!!!!

My niece lives in Louisiana, New Iberia to be exact.
She is sight impared and has a guide dog...
She went out to dinner at a restaurant & was asked to leave because the dog wasn't allowed in and 'did you see the 'no dogs allowed' sign on the door?!
Annie informes them that she's a certified guide dog and she's most certainly allowed in, she even keeps a copy of the state law concerning guide dogs. guess what the restaurant people did... they CALLED 911 to have my niece and her dog removed!! The cops show up, and tell her she needs to either take the dog outside or leave the premesis. Annie tries to show them the written law & the cop says "I don't need you to show me that" !!! What's wrong with these people?????????????? They actually threatened to arrest her! At that point the rest. people allow her to stay & eat but she felt so sick she just went home.
what recourses do people in these situations have? who should she contact? she's on her way to the police station to tell them they're breaking the law! lolol. I told her to watch herself before they DO arrest her! Just wanted to know if anyone knows who she can protest to..this is about the 3rd time this has happened to her..including a hospital!!

Usually they were cool when he explained he was blind and the restaraunt was legally obgligated to allow the dog to be there. Never had the cops called on him though. Wow. idiots!

I would say contact a lawyer in regards to the restaurant people. As for the police, if she didn't get their names and badge numbers, it may take a little more investigation to find out. Then report them.

    Sorry that happened to her!

    Exactly!

    Contact any and all media.
    Contact lawyer.
Contact business owner (if it is a franchise).
Start a letter writing campaign and possibly boycott!

Any news media would have a field day, they love stories like this. Then the restaurant would probably give her some lame apology and claim "they didnt know" blah blah blah and there would be some inquiry with the police. Good times I tell ya!

I just hate business' that do things like this - really brings out the bully in me.

Me too! But if the police were there... there was a police report along with it, no? And were there any witnesses? That would make it juicy! I'm sure once one media got a hold of it.. witnesses would start to materialize.

As a visually impaired person this is absoultely outrageous to me. I agree with everyone else. It's time to go to the media, get a lawyer. Go for maximum exposure. I am behind your niece 150 percent on this one. I am a very nice and pateint human being. I can understand why a restaurant would not want dogs there. However, your niece's guide dog is a necessity for her. Besides state law requires the service anumal be allowed inside. Obviously an ADA violation.

Please tell your niece I am behind her all the way on this.
