...who think they know everything there is to know about Disney, but clearly, they don't.
I'm working in a Disney memorabilia store for my work experience currently, and one of my boss's suppliers came in today for a chat. The good thing about working in a Disney store is that you are surrounded by fellow geeks, so the fun never ends
Anyway. I was in a conversation with my boss and this supplier about new things happening at Disney parks all over the world. He had a magazine (the supplier, not my boss) and it had pictures of Expedition Everest at DAK and Monsters Inc at DCA. I said something like "Aah, yeah, both are supposed to be really good." Well my boss knows I'm a huge geek, just like him, so he ignored my comment, but the supplier looked at me as if to say "How dare a 15 year old know this?" I just ignored it.
Anyway, he was saying that Disneyland Park at DLRP is getting a new land next year. Apparently a new land attached to 'the land where Buzz Lightyear is'. I said "No, I haven't heard anything about that. Maybe you mean the Toon Studios at the Walt Disney Studios, next door." Any true Disney geek would know that the Toon Studios are in fact opening next year, and there is nothing what so ever on a land opening in Disneyland Park, so he must be wrong.
"No no no, definitely not. It is definitely in Disneyland Park."
I just ignore it, and nod politely. I go back into the office, carry on with some work (namely looking through Disney magazines), stewing over this foolish old man's pretentious nature. And then I think - "No. I am going to prove this silly old man wrong."
I go in. "So, you know this new land? What's it called?"
"Erm... I don't really know. Cartoon Mania, Cartoon Studios something like that?"
"Oh. Cool. Well, all I've heard about is the Toon Studios land opening in the other park next year. There must be another land as well."
"Erm, yeah. Must be. Or I could be mistaken."
Man shuts up.
I love proving wannabe Disney geeks wrong.
